As I noted elsewhere, in addition to the 34 years of being terrible and having bad facilities, I think the fact that Danny Hurley turned us down was a huge negative for the perception of this job. If a Jersey guy with a built-in recruiting advantage doesn't want the job, what's the message for others.

I love Hobbs, but I think its going to be yet another 3 and done hire here.

Btw, Lonergan would have to have a great opportunity to leave DC, and RU ain't it. I believe he will be G-town's coach after next year if JT3 doesn't have a big year.

Lonergan would have been a really good choice but I don't think he was ever really interested in leaving GW. Despite the two apparent setbacks, I am fairly certain that someone will, in fact, coach this team next year. Who is anybody's guess at this pint.

You may very well be right. But what's the harm in waiting to see who is hired before declaring it's going to result in a three year stint? The instinct to panic as quickly as possible is pervasive on this board. Do people feel better upon hitting 'Post Reply' on yet another "woe is me" post?

when the sun comes up every day for 25 years, and nothing changes. One worries when the sun comes up if change is expected.

I have over 4 decades of watching the sun come up the same way and I try not to expect positive changes any more than I have to, hoping to be pleasantly surprised. With Hobbs, my outlook has changed a bit, but this process is starting to make me realize just how badly we are perceived out there in the hoops community.

I respect Lonergan for his decision. If you are happy where you are and in a comfortable spot with enough money for your needs/wishes, no need to chase more money to live somewhere you don't know you will like.

If he ditches GW for another coaching job this offseason or next, then I will feel like he dissed us.

So if he takes the Georgetown job next year, that means he dissed RU?

As I said in another thread he and his family were never leaving DC for NJ. They apparently love it there and he'll have a better opportunity, very likely, soon enough (without having to move, either...).

I agree with you. Both Hurley and Lonergan were going to listen but there was really a low probability of either coming here. In a sense, the game starts for real now.At least I hope it does.

He was my last hope. I'd be on board with Boyle now unless someone pops up that's not expected. A chance on Boyle is better than Cluess ot Pickiell. Or why not let them coach themselves like this past season.

When you need to change HC's , make it as fast as you can and take you're time finding the right fit for your program to replace that HC.
Seems like everyone's in a panic mode because of media speculation, except Hobbs.
The more the media speculates and reports candidates dropping out, the more people are relying on them for their latest info fix. That's good business, media wise!

Nothing coming from Hobbs and the leaks about negotiations have stopped once Danny left the picture.
I'd say some of the posters here are guessing as good as some of the media are, but none really know what's going on .
I try to get all my (mis)information with one stop ( here) :eek:kay:

The next step was clear: Jordan had to go because he was not going to get it done. We do not know that whoever we hire to replace him will not get it done.

Impatient is going crazy that we have not hired our next coach in ten days. Ten! Not two months, but ten days. While a large percentage of teams are still playing. Let's say we end up getting an assistant from a successful program. That coach is not going to be announced as a move until his current team is done, and he might not go beyond early phone interviews until his team is done.

Ten days. Give it a little more time.

Is Hobbs alone in the hiring?
Is he saddled with BOG members and athletic oversight committee members?
