Dee's attacks are the equivalent of me as a kid jumping in the shower and letting water run over my head and jumping out claiming that I've cleaned. Much like how my mom easily figured out that I did not actually get clean in the shower, refs are fairly good as picking up on what's an actual offensive move and what's just jump around for the sake of jumping around.
Both guys wrestled about the same, Dee did get to Ruiz twice (why wait until 5 seconds left to attack is beyond me) however the thing that kills Dee is that on almost every exchange except one or two they all started with Dee taking a step back and giving up ground in the middle and him ultimately with his opponent backing him up. Now I will give the ref credit that he didn't give a stall warning for Ruiz simply walking Dee back and never attacking. I do find it a bit frustrating that Dee did get a stall call after taking a head to the face and begging for time to stop (how that can be overturned is beyond me, it's not like blood just magically started gushing from Dee's mouth due to bad oral hygiene).
Dee could have stalled Ruiz out of the match if he would have simply pushed Ruiz back and continued to feign shots. Eventually it would have made Ruiz open up and Dee would have worked him over then.
One of these days the light is hopefully going to click on for Dee and then I don't know if anyone will be able to stop him. He's still young and like all of us at that age still has some growing up to do, mentally and physically. Sucks for him because its under such a bright spotlight, but I have faith in the kid. Heck the Goat didn't even place his FR year. Imagine if message boards were a thing in 1984.
