Pretty sure he's getting locked up for leaking National Security **** about our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Not everything has to be a defense for your Dear Leader. JFC.

Isn't he being arrested for some sex charges? That is what sent him into the embassy to begin with.

I am concentrating on the Masters and basically all other news coverage is suspended for me. Except THE's conspiracy theories. Those are read for the hearty laughs.

I think they were dropped. I think our national security secrets would carry the day in any event.

Probably that and other stuff if he is interested in speaking to prosecutors. Bradley Manning is finished with justice now but I doubt he/she was his only source.

Id imagine Julian knows quite a bit and a lot of people turned their backs on him. His safety was his information. I wouldnt be ahocked if he either spills it or if he had mechanisms in place for information to ne released upon his capture\death

I’m fine with Assange being brought in. Snowden, I’m still torn on, at least his initial act. Dumping to Russia is a problem. He should have manned up and came home to face the nation after he dumped the initial data. I think his initial act, that of outing the existence and proof of FISA, the illegal intel gathering, the violation of 4th amendment rights by the US Govt was all well within the boundaries of a whistleblower.

It’s what happened after that that I have a serious problem with.

I think we mostly agree. Whistle blowing is great. Passing top secret information to an enemy is not great AND not whistleblowing. Pretty simple in my mind.

Yea, if he’s ever brought back, he needs to answer for his traitorous behavior after the fact with Russia. The initial act with Greenwald I thought was not only ok, I thought he was doing his duty.

So, you agree that keeping high level information on an illegal server that was hacked by the Chinese and a number of other intelligence services was bad?

Whistleblowing would have been fine. Snowden stole something on the order of a million documents, most of which didn't have anything to do with surveillance but rather military capabilities, movements, tactics, etc. Then he flew with them to China. He claims that he didnt release anything other than the surveillance related docs, but there is 0 chance you are in China or Russia with those kinds of files and thoese governments don't also have them all.

He could have taken these to the press, Congress, or both and stayed put. Let them arrest him and go to trial where you defend yourself as a whistleblower. Instead he fled, which is all I need to know about what his real plans were.

Wonder how much pressure Equador had from the US? Many Venezulan refugees are ending up in Equador and so many Countries are against Maduro..If the US ends up taking action you would think Equador doesn't want to be on the wrong side of that equation lol
