Am I the only one here thinking they don't know **** about what's truly going on right now? It was very easy to write/tweet a lot about Hurley, guess who might be on the short list, and push the Willians story, but I'm thinking in reality they're not getting anything solid and I kinda like it!

Agree. I'm with Nuts on this one. You don't take the Rhode Island job hoping to stay there forever. You take it hoping for bigger and better. Lots of Hurley setting up his next move with him having a good team coming back. Guess what, the minimum he will make next year is $2.0 million per. Congratulate his agent but don't get upset.

Let's get something clear, btw: I NEVER said that Hurley wasn't "the" top choice, or even "a" top choice, just that any of us could have pushed the Hurley agenda and it's not like this was top-secret info or anything.

Agree with this. But if this was his MO, then why dance around with Hobbs this week ? Was it to seed the hiring field for his services after next season if Rhody has a good season in 2016-2017 ?

I honestly think that RU wins by not hiring Dan Hurley. He was the more physically talented player between him and his brother Bobby in college. But Bobby won big time at Duke and Danny was a head case at SHU. Just ask SHU fans how they feel about Danny as a player at the Hall.

Lonergan and Hurley have the same agent. If Hurley were offered the Rutgers job, his agent would know about it. If Hurley were offered the job, it makes no sense for the agent to allow Lonergan to interview for the job (which reportedly happened Monday), unless Lonergan really wanted the job. If Lonergan wasn't really interested in the job, he gains nothing by interviewing for a job that was already offered to someone else. It's not like Lonergan can use the interview to leverage GW for concessions as the job would presumably be filled before GW could react.

Therefore, either Lonergan really wants the job, or the job was never really offered to Hurley.

Hobbs knows who his top candidates are. He has shared this with only Barchi, Purcaro, and maybe 2 or 3 other people. All of those people know that they aren't to share or leak that information. It is a new ballgame in the athletic department. Everyone knows that leaks lose their jobs.

So if you have only 5 people who know who the top candidates are, and those 5 people don't tell anyone, how does anyone else know who the top candidates are.

Sure he would have. I'm not convinced Lonergan wants this job (like Hurley) but he can start the discussion with Hobbs as he talks to others. He can make $1 million more a year than he does now. That won't change because he's second choice. Don't think Lonergan will take this however.
