I like the kid a lot------good player but not there yet physically so he has some upside potential.

ND not in it for him anymore as we took a kid last night at his position.

Pretty impressive skill set for a 6'8" HS sophomore

The Muhammed kid would be a huge get for St John's.

Excellent all around player------like him better than Carey-----and I like Carey.

SHU won't get Quinerly or Reid----not a chance.

The King kid has really blown up this summer.

Is that you're prediction of who Rutgers will get? Obviously, I love Mathis, but, we need Carey or Zegarowski at PG. McClung is the consolation if we miss on those two.
The thread title asked who Rutgers will watch. I just picked two out of probably 25 they're tracking in 2018 class

What a meat market....sad that its come to this with these camps.
Not a camp, it's an actual tournament and it's been a meat market for years. It's a grind too. Ten to 12 hours a day of watching games, some of them poorly played. Two years ago on the 3rd day of the Under Armour Finals one media guy went into the hospitality room, sat down on the couch and took a two hour nap...in the middle of the afternoon...woke up and watched games the rest of the evening/night.

Russ,

Thanks for the guesses. I didn't mean to ask but was just going to continually update this thread when I saw stuff on twitter.

I used to go when I lived in NJ and one of the camps/tournaments was held at FDU. The last year I attended was the year Greg Oden, Lance Thomas, Derrick Caracter, OJ Mayo (among others) were there. I enjoyed it.

You are referring the the ABCD camp. I use to work that camp and remember that year. Derrick Rose had a coming out party. Lance went at OJ Mayo and Oden wore the biggest bi-focal glasses ever.

Yes, I recall Mayo and Lance Stephenson going at each other that year if my (fading) memory serves. Mayo was the #1 rising junior and Lance the #1 rising frosh if I recall. I distinctly remember Mayo being on a breakaway, pulling up/stopping and waving for Lance to come try and guard him.

I remember loving Lance Thomas that camp because he was seemingly the only player without a deer in the headlights look in his eyes when he went up against Oden.

I attended the ABCD camp at Princeton for several years and than at FDU for about 3 years. I wish one of these camps was still held in New Jersey. I remember at Princeton the kids would walk from the dorms to Jadwin Gym. Shaun Bradley was well over 7 feet probably about 7'5" or so. He was waling with the 120 other athletes and was just so much taller than all of them.

Don't know what kind of chance we have, but Rutgers is giving Carey a lot of time. Which they should because he's good.

Thanks for the info and updates, DP.

And, btw, if they had stayed together in whatever year, Scotch Plains would have had Caracter, Thomas as seniors, Bryan Dougher as a junior, and one of the Gibbs boys as a soph. on the floor.

I don't see Carey as a reach with how this program is getting itself out there, physically, technologically.

It is pretty much a brand new program than the years prior. Everything is pretty much opposite, and they are doing a great job of marketing that to let people know.

Skilled staff, a facility in the making, and an arena that I love to death. No reason RU can't compete with the Syracuses of the world. If it was Duke, another story. But the way I see the program now is from a vastly different view than three years ago. I am sure the recruits are beginning to see that, too. Not a homer, just what I see.

Cuse was in the Final 4 2 years ago----there's a great tradition of putting guys in the league----they play in the best league in the country in front of 20,000 plus.

Hopefully in a Year or Two that will be the case but for right now I cannot see Rutgers going toe to toe with them for guys and having much success.

Would love to be wrong.

I have a good feeling about Carey....I think having 3 former PG's on the coaching staff may just get it done. This is an advantage that a few really good guards may just like and decide to pull the trigger. The alternative may be to go to Cuse, play zone defense and not be ready for man to man defense in the NBA. .

For sure. Still,Rutgers has players developing. There is a reason to come here now. I think the look of the program is evident with the amount of people posting on these boards now. There is a turn around. I don't think Carey is a one and done player. Syracuse was not overly strong last year. These kids aren't looking thirty years back. With the RU staff in place now, they have a shot. That is all you need. An interview. Well see how it shakes out.

I guess what I am saying is that it's not going to be as easy anymore. The staff will compete with other coaches and programs.

Good point, I used to hate coming on the boards looking for Hoops news, and the latest posts would be 3 days old some times... We've definitely come a long way from that.
