Limited Activity on Free Board?

I notice almost no activity on Free Board for a few days unless I am missing something on new site. Don't recall that. Big year for The Hall to kickstart energy back into the fanbase. Hoping a few of these new recruits will step up and surprise everyone.

Was discussed on the Trove.
- A number of long time posters who have dropped off or posting very infrequently. Traffic, even for this time of year is way down.
- With Dan retiring and Sha keeping things close to the vest, the site is no longer a place to go for breaking news. Hines signing and Avent was broken in SHU FB page.📑
- Less “stickiness” to give posters a reason to stop by. There really isn’t much difference between the free board and Trove.
- The On3 conversion disaster.
- The team is terrible but Hines should have driven more traffic.

Unless things improve dramatically, I am canceling my Trove subscription at the end of this month. I can certainly afford it, but I’m not going to support this mess.

Vacation time and little to talk about until we get closer to October/November!
This is the biggest reason for the lull in activity there’s just not much to talk about until the fall, and lots of folks are busy/on vacation. Some of the things Hall85 cites are factors out of our control that are at play as well. We’re doing the best we can during a naturally slow time of year.

Please hang as long as you can. You'd be a big loss.

The team coming off 7-25, 2-18 with a surly coach and going on 4 years since our last NCAAT are the biggest factors imo.

Where’s the juice? Excitement?

Personally, for me it is the current state of NIL and transfer market.

Watching us recruit players who might come while they were in high school and then watching them develop here over years kept me interested even when we weren't good and the years we were good were better because we got to watch the growth over time.

Now? If we have a couple guys play great this year, they will be gone next year. It's just hard to care.
I wouldn't kid myself into thinking the name on the back of the jersey hasn't always been more important to the player than the name on the front, but maybe it was 60-40 then and it's more like 95-5 now. The players have less of a connect to the team than NBA players.

Other than Avent, who else are we recruiting? Who do we stand a legit shot at?

Years ago we used to hear about all the summer camps the high school kids are attending, which of our coaches attended the events, who we are interested in and who is interested in us.

Looking that far into the future for a school like SHU is useless now. Money rules and who knows how many college players we'll pay for next season who are not rising HS seniors at this point?

Recruiting HS is no longer what it was except for the schools that have far more money than us. I expect we'll get Avent, although not a lock, because of our family connection.

A local HS coach last year told me that college coaches spend 90% of their recruiting time on transfers and retention and the 10% remaining on HS but mostly AAU.

Maybe just an outlier but I know we spent a lot of time recruiting Najai Hines.

Yes we did and our only fear was NIL from another school beyond our means. We most feared NC St.
