Yep. Maybe people will quit with the ump this and ump that ********. If we lose we lose because we didn’t execute.

Mac’s weak pop up and Gilbert’s K hurt, Westburg hit it hard the other way, just unlucky that it found the glove.

I'm with ya. If we can hold em to 3 I still like our chances. We've made much better contact the last 3 innings or so. Just need to keep scratching away.

I won't quit if we lose by 1 run because that 3rd run Auburn got was strictly due to the HP ump and his BS strike zone.

WE may not be executing, but even the announcers were on this ump's ***. It's not just the fact he called several strikes, balls for Small, it's that he raised his pitch count and forced Small to abandon the high strike. Take the high strike away from Small and he's in trouble. Not so for the low-strike throwing Owens.

And again some of you were saying? The ump is not at fault. It’s called timely hitting. We can’t execute at the plate when it matters tonight. If we can’t score more than 1 or 2 runs to begin with we weren’t going to win regardless.

While this is true, it does not excuse the ump and his contribution. He pretty much took our ace pitcher out by not giving the high strike. We've surely made enough mistakes, etc. to exacerbate the problem, but just because we aren't otherwise executing, that's no reason to give the ump a pass.

Been listening to Powell and Ellis on radio.
They said the ump has been consistent for both teams. Our hitters NOT hitting has been the huge problem tonight not the ump.
Got to hit the ball.

inaccurate. Was not giving the high strike. Even if he was doing that to both pitchers, it was bad for us because Small lives up there while the AU pitcher does not.

We were VERY fortunate to win tonight....that is an understatement. It’s going to take an A+ effort to beat vandy.

As much as we struggled to get the big hit for 8 innings, we ended up with a pretty good offensive box score. 12 hits on 38 ABs (0.316 BA). Everybody but Rowdey got a hit. Vanderbilt had 5 hits on 26 ABs (0.192 BA). 5 of their hitters were 0 for today.

Btw .316 BA in game 1 is good for best of the 8 CWS teams. We came in with the best BA in the tournament among CWS teams. We also still have the best ERA (2.33) in the tournament of all 64 tournament teams after last night.
