With all of the recent LB commits and more expected, who goes inside and who is outside. Who is set to be the rush guy and the cover guy?

Am I wrong in that we have several rush LB's in this group as the plan? At least a couple are are 6'4" or so and could obviously gain a lot of weight.

Two positions I haven't heard much about are on the DL and TE. Anyone we are in on there? TIA

I am curious about if any of these guys are playing DE. Aho looks to be a true DE. Blaise is big enough, but I thought he was an OLB. Nash and Black are clearly at DT, so I would think we would want at least one other true DE.

Figured we might want a TE too with Legrone clearly gone and Hickman seeming to be a bit of a tweener. Looks like they really like the transfer, since he was scout team POY.

I was going to make a post about this topic too. It seems like we have recruited a to of OLB’s on the surface, but I’m not sure that’s entirely the case. I think we need to look at it like 3 or 4 different positions. Strong side OLB, where Davis and Nelson played. Field side OLB where Tannor played. Nickel OLB, where Domann played and ILB (don't think there is a difference in the two).

As for recruits. I have heard Greene and Mauga could both play inside. Green had 147 tackles this year, so I could see that. I could see it shake out like:

Strong Side OLB:
Gunnerson
Aho

Field Side OLB:
Butler
Johnson
Cooper

Nickel OLB:
Gifford

ILB:
Mauga
Greene

we already have 2 DTs and the the Dline isn’t as much of a focus right nor is TE. We are fairly loaded there.

LBs goes as following per Huskersonline.com
https://nebraska.rivals.com/news/jimari-butler-commitment-what-does-it-mean-for-nebraska-
^^^^Scroll to bottom of this link 2 see info^^^^

Eveta Mauga 4 star ILB

KeShawn Greene 4 star ILB

Blaise Gunnerson 4 star OLB

Jimara Butler 3 star OLB

Junior Aho 3 star OLB

Niko Cooper 3 star OLB

Isaac Gifford 3 star OLB ???

and when we add 4 star Kaden Johnson he will be an OLB too.

It's time we stop giving away points to teams with more depth and better special teams.

Is Nash for sure a DT? I have seen NG, DT and OT listed for him. I read somewhere that these coaches see him on the D side but we have seen that before.

he could easily slide over to Guard. On 24/7 they had him listed as a 4 star Guard for the longest time. I’d been fine with him playing either.

I was just thinking today how nice it will be to have a guy like Poa-Gates flying down there in coverage next year. Of course, the best thing would be if one of these new kickers can actually boot it out of the endzone.

I thought I saw Nash quoted as saying they want him as a NT. Nash is going to be big and athletic enough to play several different spots the day he walks on campus. I'll be surprised if Gifford starts out anywhere other than safety. He's fast enough and could maybe be a 215+ pound thumper at safety someday. Start him there and maybe he grows in to a linebacker.

We have enough TE with the Rutgers transfer.

His brother was the exact same weight coming out of high school and didn't seem to have a problem putting on weight. I think Gifford will end up moving to olb at some point.

I think Butler and Cooper are strong side players. I think Tannor moves to field side. Wouldn't be surprised if Aho no longer has a spot.

you’re dead on. Nash Hutmacher will start off at DT/NG. But at the same time I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he didn’t end up at Guard. Either way, I expect big things from rather it’s DLine or OLine. GBR

I wasn’t sure about Cooper, you could be right. Butler seems like a field side to me, time will tell.
