Not true. Had a tough first half, but there have been several games (Texas, Tennessee) where her defense has made a big difference. Still dragging that knee a bit.

Refs called a ton of fouls on Carolina, particularly in the 1st half. She is a solid player. I am a little underwhelmed overall by her offensive contribution, I was thinking she was going to be a bigger contributer.

McDowell on the other hand was as effective as a wet paper bag on defense. I know shes a freshman but holy **** she got abused by Flauje Johnson.

Team plays great defense. Latson and Okote were huge gets in the portal. We are missing Kitts and Watkins but you wouldn’t know it by how well we play. Just wish the other programs could do as well in the portal as Dawn does. There’s plenty to complain about with men’s sports. WBB is doing just fine with no drop in success in the foreseeable future. Focus your concern elsewhere, where it is definitely needed.

Its quite hilarious that you choose LSU of all games to be upset at Latson for her defense.

I just rewatched the game and her two primary defensive targets were Jada Richard and Fulwiley. Who combined for a whopping 2-18. She is not best defensive player by any means, but she has shown growth in being more successful at the end of the floor.

This is why I watch the games of the football and WBB teams twice. The second watch is unemotional because you know the result. In that second watch, you can really determine what went right and what went wrong.

Let's turn this thread into some positivity ... I am going to miss watching Raven play defense (not understating the fact that she may be the best PG in the nation, I am focusing on defense). Her posture and mindset on defense is something you want to show young players. Defense is a mindset. You have to want it and she does! I am reminded of her guarding Caitlin Clark in the national championship game two seasons ago and how, right at the end of the half, with CC letting the clock bleed for the last shot, Raven picked her pocket, got to the ball, sealed a hapless CC, and laid it in to stretch the lead (to maybe 4 points???). All in all, watching the Lady G's overall play defense is a thing of beauty ... many coaches speak to playing defense. The Lady G's actually play it!

I'm going to miss Raven too. She had great vision as a freshman. Her scoring just never took off like I thought it would, but she's a great player to have. Next year's roster doesn't see to be that intimidating. I don't expect Swatkins so we will need some help in the portal.

I am not optimistic Watkins will be back either, but Okot may be back (they are working on it) and with Kitts set to return (a huge return) and Tournibize being seasoned and a good 9 months in the program, I am very optimistic about next year's team (but I do agree with you the portal (especially for post players) will be key. I am not expecting Tac to provide anything more than up to 6-8 minutes per game on average. The guard and 3 positions should be very stout ...

How many bigs do you need? With Kitts, Tournebize and Edwards. You have most of your big minutes spoken for. You also have two freshman coming in and all they have to do is give spot minutes. That's enough even if we are not able to get Okot back in school or have Tac contribute. Now, I guess you want more depth in case of injuries like we had this year. I think we need to look more at the PG position in the portal to push Maddie and step in case of injury. Maddie has had couple knee injuries dating back to H.S.

If I recall correctly, and I may not, the two coming in thus far are guards/small forward types ... so for me, having Kitts, Tournebize, and Okot would be very welcome (again, Tac is one who eats minutes from what we have seen) and with injuries and games with foul trouble, having 4 would be fine. I would love to see Watkins back to but I just do not see it. Good point about Maddie and the injuries ... I love her assist to TO ratio (who wouldn't) and hopefully her shot will improve .... on a separate note, I am going to Lexington to see the Lady G's play this Sunday and cannot wait ... I live in Ohio and the last time I saw them play was in Dayton in the fall of 2019 ... I got there very early and I sat right behind their bench ... loved every minute of it ... Go Gamecocks!

Wynn is a 3/4. I think she is more of a 4 like Kitts even though she is 6'2". Andrews is a post player. Jerzy Robinson is the guard. I think Robinson may be able to play PG, but I am not sure. Big Guard. Built like Cotie McMahon from Ole Miss.
