Worst offensive sets. Taking forced shots from perimeter. Way too many turnovers. Just not good basic basketball skills.

You have to question a coach that keeps trying to play Garcia at the 5 spot. Takes a decent player and makes him marginal. All his qualities are lost

Not our worse road game.
UNT is better than Memphis
Effort but not execution
When Willis can’t hit we have no chance
Got
within 5 early second half and then
The broadcast was horrible
No score scroll no time left ??!!!
The announcers were the usual homers who think UNT basketball has the history of North Carolina
Clueless idiots

And Odom made too many un-Odom like silly turnovers.

We have to hit on 7 cylinders out of 8 to win against the top 4 or 5 teams in the conference with this team.

We would be a better team if we had 3 frontcourt players on the team, but only having Smikle and Garcia makes the team play weaker than our individual players.

He doesn't have a choice with the players we have. He can't afford to play Smikle & Garcia at the same time, (foul trouble) and they can't play 40 minutes. Reed's just not good enough at the five. That's a recruiting issue.

If you can’t recruit, you won’t win. Bottom line and it is showing. UNT got most of those players last May in the portal. And he knows how to get them open shots. Good coach.
He will be the next UNT coach to bump up to B12 job within a couple of years.

What are you talking about. Smilkle played like 15 minutes. Had 2 fouls I think and Garcia played 25 minutes with 1 foul. I think he needed to find a way to play the two of them together for 30 + minutes a game with Garcia at the 4 position.

I wasn't specifically referring to that game. I was referring to the general risk of playing them together and them getting into foul trouble together. Then he is forced to consider Reed or Behrend for more playing time. He doesn't know when they are going to foul early or when one of them is going to get two quick fouls like Smikle did early in the second half.

Neither Smikle or Garcia or Reed protect the rim. It is layup city for the opponents. Odom has more blocked shots than either of the 6’9” guys.

I personally don't get the love for Smikle. I mean...is he really a guy we are going to build around?

Blow the whole thing up and start over.

You don't build around him, but you keep him if he will stay. He is good as a freshman, and will get much better. You keep the best, and add to them. I laugh at the blow the whole thing up. You don't want to come in your first year, and start with 13 or so new players. That just puts more pressure when you don't keep those that are worth keeping. We should keep about 3 of the best players, and get rid of the rest. I guarantee the three you keep are not going to be the 11-13 worst players on the team. The next coach, even if he's a good coach is not going to bring in 13 players that are better than our best 3. I don't want and/or hope that our best player is Smikle next year. But I can easily see him fitting in as our 3rd to 7th best player, and us having a good team. He is our leading rebounder and he's just a freshman. He found a new gear half way through the season. He'll find gears 3-5 next year.

I think you pick 2 or 3 out of Smikle, Garcia, Barnes, and Archie. They will play differently with a decent coach, and 10 better players around them.
