Last Night on Jeopardy

I'm a regular Jeopardy watcher. Last night, a Jeopardy topic was "Big 10 Colleges." The $200 question was "What are its westernmost and easternmost colleges." A map was shown with the two states highlighted. And, the darn Jeopardy host added "The westernmost school has beaten the easternmost school five straight times." The contestant who rang in, correctly answered "Nebraska and 'Ruckers' ." Not such hot pronunciation! and we didn't need the 5-0 reminder.

Those contestants weren't too sharp. One of the other answers was: The Hawkeyes play in this city with 2 words. No one even tried.

Yes, I caught that. Cheap shot. Was waiting to see if anyone would post. Well, First Friday night in October, will get our chance..
Jeez the two of you have incredible imaginations and very thin skin.
Everything is scripted on that show. Even asking each of the contestants personal questions coming out of the break. And why would Ken Jennings be even aware about the losing streak?? He didn't go to Nebraska or any Big Ten school. He went to BYU and was born in Washington. He is another former contestant who knows nothing about real sports. He considers Jeopardy a "sport" because it's a competition. The guy is just a nerd reading the cue cards.

Shoulda heard Gene Rayburn during Match Game 45 years ago. Rutgers pot shots at every opportunity. Bob Eubanks would never promote a romantic getaway that started with R. And don't get me started on staunchly anti-RU Bill Cullen.

Shat been going on long before Ken Jennings

Hey, at least people know that we are in the Big 10. A few years ago, there was a Jeopardy question that asked “What is the only Ivy League university located in New Jersey?” and the contestant answered “Rutgers!”

Ken Jennings. It almost sounded as if were ad-libbing when he mentioned that we had lost five straight to Nebraska!
Name the Jeopardy host who ghost writes Rutgers sports headlines for NJ.com

Who is Ken Jennings?

The "Cheap Shot" was not referring to Jennings, but the question itself..
Haha. Try again. The statement you responded to was asking if Jennings was ad-libbing. So it was 100% a reference about Jennings. Also your thin skin is still showing as you think an "answer" on Jeopardy is targeting Rutgers as a "cheap shot".

NO.. does not matter what I responded to..
I watched the show live, which you probably did not.
Tell me what the actual question (answer technically) was..
not taken that seriously anyway , as I you are showing your thin skin by your reaction

"Cheap Shot", which I responded to a bunch of friends, right after refers to the "answer"
all it had to say was "these are the Westernmost & Easternmost Schools of the Big Ten"
Period
the "westernmost school had a 5-0 advantage of the easternmost in football", was not required, nor a subtle clue, which is sometimes included in the answer.
any neutral observer could make that observation.

Technically, 5-0 in the football rivalry in the Big Ten is incorrect. Rutgers lost to Nebraska on November 2, 1920 in a game at the Polo Grounds.

Rutgers and Nebraska were not affiliated with a conference in 1920.

Rutgers and Nebraska are also not rivals by any stretch of that definition.

Jennings' ad-lib to the clue was worse than the guess at the Indiana Jones guess on Wheel of Fortune.

There are always 2 hints in every clue. And Ken Jennings did not adlib the conference records. That never happens. The writers wrote that. And the woman who just won 40 or so straight games was devastating with sports questions.

Except it wasn't the conference record. 4-0, not 5-0. And not a rivalry by any stretch of the imagination. Very poorly researched and presented. Alex Trebeck would not have allowed such a miscarriage of justice!!!

Exactly. It's a good secondary clue except by those that are all butt hurt over an actual fact.

They could have said that about 4 other schools we have yet to beat in the Big Ten.

RU also made it this past week - something like this college played against Princeton in 1869 - only a $200 question I think
