NM. Thought it was more sports related. But not sure how sports related it really is except the indictment does claim some of the people involved were D-1 college coaches (and a few actresses). Will know more after press conference by FBI & US Attorney's office at 11:30.

"The plot involved students who attended or were seeking to attend Georgetown University, Stanford University, UCLA, the University of San Diego, USC, University of Texas, Wake Forest, and Yale, according to federal prosecutors."

“The alleged scheme focused on getting students admitted to elite universities as recruited athletes, regardless of their athletic abilities..”

So UK got multiple season postseason ban and scholarships pulled for mainly the Eric Manual ACT scores (1000 from Emory package was hardly evidence). So I'm expecting all those schools get the same?

Memphis and Cal vacated a Final Four and 38 wins for essentially the same offense. Wonder if the same will happen to the new offenders?

This is frickin' hilarious. Can't think of a much better way to expose the hypocrisy of the NCAA's "Student/Athlete" sham. Rich kid can't get into his or her first choice school, so parents try to use bribes to make him or her a fake athlete.

Very good stuff. Comedy gold.

just shows that the universities themselves are as much to blame as anyone for keeping the “student athlete” myth alive.

Rich people have been doing this for years, in one way or another. I went to high school with a total jack off guy who was as dumb as a rock. His father was a high profile attorney. Somehow he got into Yale.

The entire process is criminal. Here you have coaches in obscure sports getting paid 1-3 million in bribes to fake SAT scores and profile these people as players because those standards are less. The University’s and Hollywood prove that as Orwell said, All men are equal but some are more equal than others.

How does any basketball player make it into duke at the same requirements as the regular student population?
They don't. They have special rules for the less privileged among us. They leave Duke just as illiterate as when they arrived. Same at UNC and many others. .

So I wonder what happens to the students who attended and have graduated. Maybe they did the college work BUT they cheated to get in .
And what happens to those currently enrolled . Expelled? Credit or no credit for courses which they passed ? A real nightmare.
