Landscape architect

Anybody have any recommendations for a landscape architect in the Central MS area?

Does anybody have experience and/or advice for using an architect to help design the layout of a lot or piece of property prior to building?

I used to think this would be something I could do, but now that it's go time I'm thinking I need a professional.

I have dealt with several through my job. I wont call out anyone here but my experience is greatly different than some else on here about one other recommendation. However, Robert Poore with Native Habitats is excellent. I will admit some people dont appreciate his style. He uses mainly plants that are native to the area and methods to reduce the maintenance and the need for chemicals over time. Real interesting dude but set aside some time when you talk to him. He is a State grad but I have no idea if he gives two ***** about sports.

He will even look at things such as where the sun will rise and set on a house and suggest placement angles so you aren’t blinded first thing in the morning.

What type of project is it? I’m a licensed landscape contractor so here my advice. I’m guessing the projects not that big if you were planning on doing it yourself. You may not really need a LA. Don’t get me wrong. LA are great and I’ve worked with plenty of them over the years. I have a LA I use to make plans on some of the really large jobs we get. Having said that, on most of my smaller 15k or less projects I work with the customer and do the designs/plans myself. I will say if you are planning on more than one area over time it would be with the money to get a LA to do a master. Then you will have a true plan for the LC to bid on your projects. Most of the LA I know around here hire people like us to actually do the plans they make.
