He’s an NBA physical talent, but lately has got less out of it than anyone in recent memory. He’d be a perfect for IL lately.

He’s suffering from a lack of confidence and it’s impacting the whole team. I would also argue that the 7 man rotation is showing up right now. Ulis looked hobbled, Connor too. Perkins was gassed.

No need to demean Kris, but any objective observer would have to admit that he hasn't played well lately. Rather than storm back from the NW affair, last night he looked like a whipped puppy. He's not naturally agressive, and in the right circumstances, that can work--it can even be an advantage. But when the going gets tough, as it has recently for this Iowa team, retreating and playing soft is not a good look.

Last night Kris was out-fought for rebounds, missed multiple bunnies, and basically was a non factor. Those who keep insisting he's first team All Big Ten are going on his last name, not on his actual performance.

And, of course, it's not just Kris. Nobody has done much the last couple of games. Losing to a mediocre Wisconsin team AGAIN last night was embarrassing, plain and simple. If this is how the Hawkeyes insist on finishing the season, they won't win another game, and they won't make the NCAA tournament. The worst part is, based on the eye test the last couple of games, they don't even care. There is no energy, no effort, no swagger. This team has mailed it in. IMHO, of course.

there’s some speculation that he’s playing hurt….. back problems…. this makes sense because he hasn’t been himself lately

It’s hard but people should maybe withhold judgement unless they know what’s really going on with the kid

This may be true. If he is hurt that might explain his play lately. Fran and his staff will weigh the options of whether to sit him or play him hurt. Everyone can see his play has fallen off for whatever reason. All I am saying is IMO he is not quite ready for the NBA. He and his circle (family, NBA scouts, agents, etc) will make that decision. One thing I think he needs to do is get a little more edge and toughness to his game. He sometimes disappears and looks disinterested. He is forever compared to Keegan and as it sits right now, Kris has a long way to go to catch his brother.

He needs to learn to use his right hand in and around the basket. Never have seen a player who is supposed to be a good three point shooter miss so badly. If he continues, he may be playing his way into the G League.

Most of the recent mock drafts I've seen have him in the middle part of the first round. No, he isn't as good as his brother (I may never again see an Iowa basketball player as good as Keegan Murray in whatever time I have left). Keegan was more explosive, stronger at the rim and turned into a very good 3-point shooter. Keegan is over 41% this year at the NBA line.

Kris has things that the NBA likes and will likely thrive being a role player in the NBA and not forced to be the focal point of an offense like at Iowa. Even at that, Kris is having a very good season. Bart Torvik has him 11th in his POY Ratings. College Basketball Reference doesn't have him as high in Win Shares or PER. But a high volume scorer with an effective FG% of 56.0 is a very, very good player. I think Kris is a very good passer, he just doesn't get as much of a shot to showcase that as Iowa needs him to score.

His game at the NBA level is not going scoring at the rim, by and large. It's going to be defending multiple positions, rebounding and shooting open 3's. Hopefully he can get hot here down the stretch from 3.

He needs to go because of his age. The NBA doesn’t go for the over 22 age group.

Why would he want to play for Fran for another year! Even if he came back, Iowa would lose another 10 games or more and keep him from playing a year between the G league and the NBA on a 2 way contract. There's no NBA team going to draft him in the 1st round and just sit him on the bench. He's not ready to play minutes in the NBA as he is right now. Good luck to him though, he did well despite Frans coaching shoot comings. Glad he and he brother came to Iowa even if it didn't move the needle.

I agree that Kris is not an NBA player. He may not even be a G League player. Nice college player who needs another year. It's like he came into this season thinking he could just show up or something. I don't see any aspect of his game noticeably improved from last year vs. Rebraca who took a huge stride.

I think he has un disclosed injury the fading away from 3 all the time etc. He also looks very skinny compared to his brother. As mentioned by others no right hand moves needs a lot of work.

Im not an nba talent judge but he looks like he needs more development before ready for next step.

Side bar-The bunny miss last night to go up 7 was huge in 2nd half then bucks drain a 3 that was the 5 point swing that took wind out of our sails

I am changing my tune with Kris. At this point he should go. Even if it is G league or two way contract. Not sure another year in Iowa system will result in moving him up the draft list. His handles are not good but maybe he is projected as a catch and shoot type NBA player.

If he is still projected as a 1st round pick he should and will go.

I dont see him being a first round pick but I am hardly an NBA scout. If he can get 1st or 2nd round....go get the money! No upside to staying at Iowa.

Kris IS NOT NBA ready! Not even close. Way too soft, no fire, no edge. Plays lazy and timid.

No clue why people think Kris is an NBA player. That was as soft and disinterested a game as he has played all year but totally expected.

If still projected as a 1st rounder he will leave, as he should.

I agree...he is not much of an NBA talent. He is inconsistent and disappears. He can leave as far as I am concerned. Fran just can't recruit athletes, except locally. Why come to Iowa? 13 years and we have not progressed.

Some of you guys don’t understand how the NBA draft works.

What don't we understand? There are so many spots for a ton of players so the best players get taken in earlier rounds/picks. What am I missing? Did you watch any hoops the past two days? There are a dozen guys in the big ten I would take over Kris and twice that many I have seen on other teams and those are just the games I watched. Kris is a nice college player but check out G League rosters and you will see they are littered with them. Tyler Cook, Joe Wieskamp, Luka Garza to name 3 you may be familiar with.

If his goal is to end up playing for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, then more power to him. If he wants to increase his odds of playing in the NBA, he should put some work in to build his frame, work on his right hand, and find a way to play with some intensity. The NBA is a an alpha male league and Kris is far from that right now. I saw a wildly inconsistent volume shooter that struggles to be aggressive off the bounce and finish all season.
