While I am not serious about this, why not have some fun discussion?

He is an all NBA player that every hs kid knows about and would want to be near to learn from. So recruiting the 1st 2-3 years can be easier. He would need need good college assistants behind him that know how to navigate the collegate basketball scene. We saw Patrick Ewing's name mentioned but I think Kobe is better known by the 15-17 year old hs players.

I doubt he would be interested in this but whoever we hire may want to bring him on board as an asst to learn the coaching ropes, again giving a boost to recruiting. I don't think his ego will allow him to be an asst though unless the head coach is coach K or someone of that caliber.

Would be interesting to see a recent high profile player be coach and impact on recruiting ... Players like Kobe and LeBron are like second head coaches on their teams.

Players like Kobe or MJ are typically bad coaches because they have a hard time understanding that not all players have the same mental makeup or skills that they had.
