How is this different than what RU tried with FHJ? We all know that failed miserably.

There is no substitute for college head coaching experience. Boyle should get experience at a low major or mid major. This is what Hurley and Keatts did.
why do we have to wait until Eddie is 65. Does Social security kick in at that point

Boyle would not coach under Eddie Jordan under any circumstance.

He's a HC with a better resume coaching teenagers.

Kevin makes too much money between his great gig in Florida and his basketball camps. He was approached some years ago and the numbers weren't enough.

Next: Bob Hurley will be put up as a great hire and one of his sons will take over after a year or two.
Boyle has close to 30 years as a HS BB HC, doubt he'd make the jump now even if asked by Hobbs to work as an assistant one year then take over the RU MBB program.

Not backing now. I was not serious about it. I really don't know much about Kevin Boyle, other than, some people love him and some people hate him. I don't have an opinion either way.

He was approached as an asst I think, and the numbers for that slot didn't fit. You could do alot worse.

Everyone isn't a hater that didsagrees about Boyle being a good choice.
Just like every poster that feels Jordan deserves another year, isn't some kind of lunatic .

More and more this board is turning into an us against them state of affairs , instead of RU MBB fans disagreeing on many aspects of the RU MBB program and issues surrounding it and respecting each others opinion while disputing it..

I agree, I have absolutely no issue with anybody saying they don't think Jordan is the right person and should go now. It's the repetition; saying the same thing over and over again that is killing real basketball discussion.

I really hope that Eddie can get things done but if we ever went in another direction I think Kevin is someone to be considered. I think he is a better choice than Danny Hurley. I know Kevin and Phil Colicchio of Linden are good friends as they both lived in Clark. I believe Kevin would want Phil as his top assistant. I have never saw anyone who coaches defense better than Phil. In fact Kevin's Monteverde team will play at Linden next Monday.

He was approached as an assistant. Kevin would be a great assistant coach hire if he could bring a couple of top recruits with him.

Boyle and the Hurleys are brought up as good choices every-time there's a cry for change.
Before Rice was hired, I believe, Boyle was a favorite of this board along with Danny .
Even Hurley Sr was mentioned as someone RU needs to go after.
There's a reason none are interested in becoming the RU MBB HC and one of the Hurleys could have had the position but what RU was willing to give , wasn't enough to have a Hurley as the RU HC .
Being the RU MBB HC isn't a job that seems to be one that the best or close to it seem to think is a good fit for them and someone that has it made as a HS BB HC isn't going to put himself in a position to fail .
Hobbs isn't going to bet the farm on a HS HC no matter how successful he is and that HS coach won't be willing to take assistant's position at RU when he has the financial stability he has now after close to 30 years as a HS HC and being treated like one of the best in his profession.

Hobbs either is going to take a gamble on a low cost replacement , which Boyle won't accept being, or pay the price to bring in what's considered a quality college HC candidate which Boyle
hasn't proved to be and being an assistant for one year won't earn him the right to be paid like one if he replaced Jordan after being Eddie's assistant for that year.
That's my opinion and another one I have is:
Hobbs will bring back Eddie for his fourth year and let him go after the season's over if the team doesn't show vast improvement( with or without a full roster).

A source I trust told me that the college job that Boyle is interested in is the Central Florida job (UCF). His son is a walk-on on that team, the family wouldn't have to move far and coach Boyle has a good relationship with key people who would be involved in hiring a new coach at that school.

Would UCF hire a prep school coach to be their head coach is the million dollar question.

He shook his head and said "NO" and didnt even wince

YOU nailed it. His team is exceptional at Monteverde, he has total control and makes plenty of money.

That said the Academy is almost invisible in the community...most of his players are from overseas...and they are on another level...they dont even play and local teams.....they are in a world of their own

We did talk about RU and its troubles........he was with 2 players in uniform......he grabbed a bag of burgers and bid me adieu.....very cordially

I've met Kevin many times at parties over the years and knew his wife 25 years ago and a few of my friends played for him at St. Patrick's. Years ago he seemed to have some interest in RU but I think those days are over. Always intrigued me thinking how'd he do here.

I saw something linked from Twitter the other day, and now I can't find it, but the point was that since 2007, or something like that, only John Calipari has coached more No. 1s (or No. 1 overalls) than Kevin Boyle. Amazing...

I REALLY should go see more Montverde Academy games..its literally 11mi from my house(when i am in Lake County and not in the Keys)...the baskeball team and baseball team are usually nationally ranked.....sports is like a world of its own...the general school population is NY and NJ kids who have had "trouble" in school and sent away to learn to behave..................the school itself is 8mi from even a McDonalds and surrounded by orange groves...snakes n lakes LOL.......the faculty can keep a good eye on them ...all this for 30-40k a year LOL
