OK, so he didn't rise for the national anthem. Ok, so he wore a Malcolm X hat to the post game news conference. Ok, he sucks donkey #*(## as an NFL QB. All those I don't have a problem with. I cannot stand people who do not say the pledge or rise for the anthem, but it is their choice....

....however.....

When he comes out and says he is protesting for the "oppressed black people" in America, come on! Who is he kidding? First off, he was raised by a white couple who showed him nothing but love when he needed it. Secondly, is he thinking about the "oppressed black man" when he goes home to his million dollar mansion in a white neighborhood for the affluent society???

He is setting himself up to secure a roster spot knowing that if he gets cut, he will claim "racism" since that has already been linked to Chip Kelly in the past. He's a piece of trash. He's the worst of the worst. He's the type that claims racism and "oppression", but lives a life full of abundance.

In general, I am in favor of those that protest for real issues in which they are passionate about. That is part of this great country and it is a shame others criticize those that protest because they may disagree politically. But that is a different conversation.

In terms of Kaepernick not standing for the National Anthem while he is a member of a Union in a league making a very affluent living in the greatest country on the planet in which many have sacrificed so much for him to protest, well this is the wrong way to do it. He will get skewered for it and you won't see me supporting the jerk. Nor will I draft him on my fantasy football team as there is no way I could root for him.

Just another spoiled brat making too much money playing a kids game. This is the only nation in the world that you can act like an idiot because men died to allow you to do it. I wouldn't pay a nickle to watch him play in my back yard.

I think you are underestimating him. I think he's smarter than we are all giving him credit. He knows he's in an uphill battle to beat Gabbert for the starting QB job. He also knows that if he doesn't win it, it is likely that he will be released....thus not getting paid. He also knows that other teams know he cannot play QB in this league, so nobody will pick him up after being released.

My point.......IF he doesn't get the starting job, and IF he gets released, he can get on his soapbox and claim "racism" as the reason.......and I don't think SF wants that to hover over them the entire year, so they will probably keep him on the roster and let him get paid for sucking.

A bunch of white dudes enraged that a half black man is standing up for the rights of black people in this country. [laughing] And pissed that he's making a bunch of money while doing it. [laughing] You all do understand that because he is famous it brings more attention to the subject, right? If regular Joe had stood out on the street corner protesting it would have received absolutely zero attention.

He should stand up for the law abiding black people being oppressed by the liberal elites that govern major cities across the US. He should protest, just protest something that is legit. Black QB's matter.

I don't think it was the "liberal elites" that were dressed in uniform in North Charleston SC that pulled the trigger as the black man was running away, shot in the back and lost his life.

Guy is in jail as he should be. What about the Ferguson riots that started because of the lie, Hands up don't shoot? You point to one incident like that justifies killing 5 police officers in dallas or three in Baton Rouge. When Tavon and the rest ran out onto the field promoting the lie of the thug Brown, did you denounce them? Maybe Tavon should donate some of his money to the police officer who's life was ruined by that thug Brown and the rest of the black community.

I never said the killing of police officers is justified. It isn't. There are numerous, non-violent ways to protest and Kapernick (sp?) picked one and is now being criticized. And there are, sadly, plenty of examples in this country where police officers used unjustifiable and excessive force on blacks. I just posted one that everyone remembers. I literally could post examples for days.

And, we could do it for years where blacks kill each other and nobody cares, esp the liberals who run big cities.

I don't think "nobody cares" is accurate. It's a problem that is out of hand and I think a lot of people are at a loss for a solution. When you have several gangs fighting each other, it's going to be pandemonium and there are going to be innocent victims.

OK, something we can agree on. You need aggressive police work that targets those that are breaking the law and not some innocent citizen who was arrested for having his own gun, hopefully you remember that.

Show me one athlete that as taken to the streets or did something in protest to shine the light on the African American genocide taking place in cities across this country? If the problem is "out of hand" as you claim.....why is not national headlines every day?

First off, you don't know if I'm white or black or asian or arab........

Secondly, if what he is saying that he's doing this because the "black man is being oppressed" is legit, then why did he choose now? Why not when he was an actual starting QB in the NFL (when he was actually "somebody"....unlike now when he's nothing in the NFL)? Why not when Ferguson happened? He is a man of opportunity and seized this because (1) He sucks and (2) he's trying to protect his roster spot.

Dr. King was a relative "unknown" in the mid 1950's. People pay attention to those who do so for a just cause and in specific ways. Refusing to stand up for an anthem that stands for a nation that has helped him (1) find a loving home to WHITE parents when his was unable to care for him and (2) give him the chance to make MILLIONS when his talents are far less adequate than others (including WHITE QB's).

So, where's this "oppressed" status he's referring to?

You're wasting your time trying to reason with some of our left wing liberal friends. They are more concerned about stopping that 8yr old kid from wearing his shirt with the American flag on it to school or getting a coach or player banned from sports because they kneeled, made the sign of the cross or pointed a finger toward the sky. They can't handle that kind of "freedom to express yourself". They are more concerned that some 28 yr old multi- millionaire wannabe thug might be criticized for his faux concern about faux oppression.

You're white. Give me a break. We've had this discussion on here. None of the posters stated they were black.

You do understand he's standing up for others that are oppressed? He's not saying that he is oppressed.

Shame on him for picking the time to be now, after we've had two years of a lot of innocent black men gunned down by cops.

Whitey needs to tell that ungrateful black man to shut the **** up.

So, who's being "oppressed"? Are there also white people being killed as well? Are just the blacks "innocent"? This isn't a race war.....no matter how happy that would make you. My race is not a big deal. Maybe I'm white, or maybe I'm a mix of different groups of ethnicities...hmm??? And for you to take the stand that he did this now because of recent events is ludicrous. He is doing it for his own personal gain. When can we expect him to march in the streets of Chicago? Los Angeles? New York? Oh...yeah....much easier for him to sit down during an anthem and wear a Malcolm X hat for the first time.........

And before you get your panties in a wad.....I'm probably attacked on here as much or more than you are by the right wingers. I'm against you on this simply because (1) He is a phony and (2) we have a problem in America, not just a "black" problem.

I think you would be hard pressed to post examples of cops that use unjustifiable force that aren't then dealt with accordingly.
