I text Aman about this Tuesday night when I first caught wind of this. I guess the family got the second opinion and it was the same as the first opinion.
A redshirt season would probably be in his best interest. My source told me that Coach Ollie Was contacted and made aware of this possibility.

from the Hartford Courant on Sept. 24th On The Fly: :" Juwan Durham, the 6-foot-10 forward from Tampa who is committed to play at UConn next season, has injured his right knee. Durham tore the ACL in his left knee last February and just as he was returning to practice he tweaked his other knee, according to his coach at Tampa Prep, Joe Fenlon. Durham was having tests to determine the severity."

"Juwan still had complete movement and there was no swelling," Fenlon said. "It was a freak thing; one of the strangest tears of an ACL I've seen."
Fenlon said he contacted Connecticut immediately after the MRI on Durham's knee.
"UConn was fine and said these kind of things happen," Fenlon said.

Why do you guys think he will need a redshirt season? I understand he will have missed 2 straight high school seasons which have clearly hurt his development and he has a lot of missed time to make up for, but what if he shows up at UConn next summer in great shape and more than holds his own in the Pro-Am league and pick up games? I think it's premature at this point to slap a redshirt on him, although it remains a possibility.
It wouldn't be 2, it would be one, he originally tore it in April of this year.
Missing one year is correct but first ACL tear happened in February not April of this year.

Seems like it was a quick turn around from ACL surgery......( 6-7 months ?) so considering he just tore it again ( the other ACL ? ) He would probably have a full year to recover this time......
....on a side note it's amazing how quick guys come back from ACL's now, I remember 10-15 years ago it seemed to be a year and a half ....and going back even further in the 80's it seemed like they were career ending injuries.

When I interviewed Juwan a while back he said that he was on schedule to return early this season but his parents might hold him out until January just to be sure.
When I reached out to his mom this week to express my sadness over the new injury, she text me this:
"No need to feel bad. Juwan still has a positive future ahead of him. That's why education has always been a priority in my home for Juwan. College is going to GREAT!!!!!"

“The way I look at it,” said Fenlon, “he’s gonna have two brand-new ACLs, and everyone else has been playing on theirs for 20 years.”
