He says updates on test results and new cases are coming more regularly. Next update to Doctor’s offices will be at 4 PM today. No cases listed for Rankin County yet. Guess that is good news so far. Guess we will know more at 4.

I just spoke to someone on the front lines. They had 20+ patients this morning exhibiting symptoms at one location. This thing is about to blow up.

Sorry for being cryptic, but jobs are on the line.

It does surprise me that out of 600 people tested thus far in MS, only 50 have been reported as positive for the virus. I guess I assumed that those actually being tested at this early stage would be identified as pretty likely to be positive based on other observations.

Hopefully this is a positive thing.

The numbers from New Orleans are scary. That place has the potential to spiral.

That potentially comes from all the idiots hanging out in the quarter through at least Sunday and having to have bartenders, restaurant employees, cabs, etc serve them. It was dumb that they didn't shut it down earlier in the week

10% positive rate is close to what is happening here in CO.

It's been estimated that 80-90% of people with the virus have not been able to get tested so far. Most people are told to go home and isolate for 14 days unless symptoms get critical.

It's been a real challenge to get tested until this week. Until now they have only been testing those most at risk and those with known contact. One of the biggest mistakes up to this point was that those who received the tests were focused on rules vs the actual symptoms.

For example here are the cases of two 45 YO men... Bob flew in from London 3 weeks ago and has a runny nose and a sore throat. Somebody else on his flight tested positive. Bob got a test, even though the symptoms didn't line up and it's been weeks since the possible exposure. Jim has not left the country and doesn't know anyone that tested positive, but has a high fever and a severe cough, says it's the worst he can ever remember. Go home Jim and go to the ER if it gets worse. Dr knows who mostly has covid19 but had to test the wrong one and could not test the right one by law.

I usually don't think there is much value in "cutting the red tape," but over the last few days the rules over testing have been cut and Dr's have more latitude, now they just need more access to tests which is coming.

Also, you have to factor in that 15-20% of the people with Covid19 will never have symptoms. And tests may take 4-5 days to come back...

I guarantee you that hundreds of people in Rankin County have it, if not thousands.

Speculation here is MardiGras was a large cause of the spread.

That’s absolutely the correlation. Throw in the factor of NOLAs general filthiness and it makes for a breeding ground for that to spread. No doubts in my mind.

Take my word, this a super contagious virus. There are a lot of patients that have tested positive that have yet to be confirmed by the CDC as an "official" positive. I wouldn't be afraid to estimate 100's in MS alone. There's a ton that have all the symptoms, not tested that are asked to go ahead & self quarantine. Then you'll have many that are asymptomatic that are spreading the virus unknowingly. The best protocol is to believe you are a positive & take very precaution not to spread the virus.

That would explain the results we're seeing in state at this point. Really makes the data's usefulness questionable if they're not confirming what appear to be obvious cases.

"For those I see on Twitter citing low numbers. Take it from me the numbers are way higher than what’s reported. Every day we send ppl home we think have it but can’t test. Then the tests sent to private labs are not included in the Public health numbers."

"It’s mathematically inevitable that the coronavirus will overwhelm the U.S. healthcare system. We’ll start to see this over the next several weeks. Everything you do matters now more than ever. If you have mild symptoms DO NOT come to the ER. STAY HOME as much as possible."

This is on my cousin's Twitter who is an er doc in Atlanta. The way I see it, nearly everyone will pretty much be exposed. The closures and quarantine requests are to make the exposure more of a trickle than a flood.
