I don't think that's the case. I still feel we have a good team, but Oklahoma came to play last night and we didn't. We definitely need a QB because everything starts there. Turnovers in both Oklahoma teams killed us.
There are few similarities between this team and '93. Yes both played somewhat weak schedules but the '93 team was truly a top 10 team that got destroyed by a great team when they (WVU) went in overconfident.
The 1993 team beat a Miami team that was ranked 4th at the time. The Miami team of that year might have not been the best Miami team of that decade but there only loss coming into the game was against Fsu who went on to win the national championship. That Miami team would have eaten this Oklahoma team for lunch. I didn't see Warran Sapp on Oklahoma's defense last night.

That 93 squad did not play a "laughable weak schedule".
Miami was not weak (9-3) ranked 16th at years end
BC was not weak (9-3) beat ND 41-39 6 days before WVU went to Chestnut Hill and won 17-14. BC finished the season ranked 13th. Btw ND beat the National Champs FSU that season
Louisville was not weak (9-3) and finished the season ranked 25th.
Virginia Tech was not weak (9-3) and finished the season ranked at 20th.
Syracuse was not weak either despite going 6-4-1.
That's 4 of 11 opponents in the regular season that ended the year ranked.
And one of the detriments to prep for the 94 Sugar Bowl was weather. Coldest winter and snow that December all my time in Morgantown. Practices were affected which is a big reason WVU got the IPF.

don't see much correlation either. engineer pointed out quality Ws above. beating teams that finish ranked is most telling. the final poll does not lie.
plus '93 team finished regular season undefeated & Big East champs.
the '16 team will finish with at least two decisive losses and not conference champs.

I'm just thrilled that the 2016 will not match the 4-8 season.

For now, beating Iowa State and Baylor will have to do. Then we can all live with a 10-2 regular season. Only 13 other Power 5 teams still have a shot at that and several of them play each other so that will thin out the ranks.
