Still don't understand how we didn't offer Jacobs. Would definitely have solved our short yardage issues. I wonder if our coaching staff didn't believe he would make the grades, or they simply did not evaluate him well enough, as many others failed to do as well. For those that don't know, this Tulsa McClain product made his first start this past week vs. Kentucky at running back as a true Freshman, for the Alabama Crimson Tide. Had we offered early and got him to commit when he only had offers from Wyoming and New Mexico State, Alabama may not have come calling like they did late in the recruiting process.

Couple interesting reads on Jacobs, the second explaining in part how Alabama got involved.

Pretty impressive when you consider that both him and Justice Hill were playing for TPS last year.

Normally I'd say grades, but if OU nor OSU didn't offer, there's got to be a reason why.

Not if he was a very late qualifier with regards to ACT scores. If the scores were lower than usual where coaches didn't feel he was likely to improve enough to get a qualifying score before the end of the Spring, they were not going to waste time and resources on a kid who would end up at NEO. Remember, NO ONE was recruiting him except Wyoming and some other middle of nowhere place. Let's hope he has a better head on his shoulders than Prentiss Elliott did. That kid had NFL type talent and threw it away and no one mentored him. TBH, getting away to Alabama and being far away from some of the negative influences might be good for Jacobs. While it would have been fantastic to see him in blue and gold, I hope things work out for him.

Had he committed early to us, Alabama would not hesitate to come get him because he was committed to a G5 school and a little private one to boot. IMHO
