In addition to the 10 strikeouts, Jones received some great defensive plays from his teammates. The highlight was a grab by Shortstop Colby Higgerson who made a stop deep in the infield to throw out a baserunner.

Jones, who will attend the University of Virginia next year, took the mound with a 4-0 lead after Kyle Matthews blasted a homerun over the left field fence. Great Bridge added a run in the fifth after a single by Florida commit Taylor Lane. The Wildcats finished with eight hits and three walks.

The 5-run margin was more than enough for Jones who barely saw the ball leave the infield. He had a strikeout in every inning except the first when the Wildcats ended the inning with a double-play. Two of the Western Branch three hits were in the infield and the first single could have been scored an error.
