We need Gifford to stay. If you want to get to 85, you start from the bottom, not the top.Is all we need now is for a player to quit due to injury and a player like Gifford to try the NFL and we'll have a perfect day to show people how we'll get to 85 by next August.
No one is running Gifford off. Don't be dramatic. I'm just saying that maybe Gifford has told Rhule that if he gets a decent draft grade he's leaving. So Rhule counts him as gone.We need Gifford to stay. If you want to get to 85, you start from the bottom, not the top.
Ummmmm we’re over what we can take. Someone had to “decommit”.We need to dispense with calling these commits. It's laughable.
Gifford has a lot of work to do next year to get a good draft grade, I'd be absolutely SHOCKED if he enters the draft this year, that would be a mistake... not really even an option besides wanting to go through the process for the experience. No one is running Gifford off. Stop with the 85 talk, it's not even an issue...... no one EVER has been over the 85 EVER.... It doesn't happenUmmmmm we’re over what we can take. Someone had to “decommit”.
Exactly. It’s not an issue. Rhule said that they were going to turn some committed kids loose though. This one. He’s not likely a difference maker and he had a major injury. Life is tough.Stop with the 85 talk, it's not even an issue...... no one EVER has been over the 85 EVER.... It doesn't happenSMH
Indeed. We might see a few more of these "decommits" as we move forward with some portal additions.Exactly. It’s not an issue. Rhule said that they were going to turn some committed kids loose though. This one. He’s not likely a difference maker and he had a major injury. Life is tough.

Who knows. We all know that all kids don't make it for whatever reason. Decommit. Or grade issues. If you are committed at x position and we are still actively recruiting other kids in your class you may already see the writing on the wall and flip to a different school. Not a big deal at all.Which other high school recruits do you think we will turn loose? I can't see Rhule doing that to any in-state recruits, as that would burn some bridges. Braylen Prude, Evan Taylor, Jaxon Lee, and Jake Peters would seem to be our lowest-rated out-of-state high school recruits.
Glad I’m not the only one!Who? I don't even remember this kid committing.
I'd go the NIL route with the lower rated guys. If they balk, then so be it. There's too much damn talent in the portal and proven playmakers that we need to be going after to worry too much about the feelings of low 3 star HS kids. If we can land McCord, there's no reason we shouldn't be able to land top 10 players at other positions from the portal. And there's also no reason we couldn't be a playoff team by next year.Which other high school recruits do you think we will turn loose? The CFB world with the portal and NIL just got more cutthroat than ever. I don't really like it either, but if we're ever going to compete for anything, we'd better embrace it.Man I'm getting to despise recruiting etc more every year.
I didn't like it when kids committed and then we got left at the altar.
I like it even less if NU is decommiting on a committed athlete. There better be good reason/cause like if something arises that wasn't disclosed or legal problems or grades.
If a kid gets hurt after they commit, in the past we've honored it if/since it was out of their control and no fault. To me that's the right thing to do.
However today it's the wild wild west
Now we're doing hypotheticals? Gifford is a baller, you do everything you can to get him to stay. Now after doing that, if he still wants to test out the NFL, then so be it, but I don't think that will be the case.No one is running Gifford off. Don't be dramatic. I'm just saying that maybe Gifford has told Rhule that if he gets a decent draft grade he's leaving. So Rhule counts him as gone.
I don't disagree with you but Rhule has said multiple times that if a guy has a good path to the NFL he won't try to convince him to stay. I, however, find it hard to believe Gifford is a "no doubt" NFL prospect that couldn't benefit from another year in college. Like if he's being told he's potentially a 6th rounder he might as well come back. He looks more like a FA signing to me.Now we're doing hypotheticals? Yes, I'm showing you a made up scenario on how we would possibly get to 85 by August. From podcasts I've listened too it sounds like Gifford and Benhart are mulling over their options and we are trying to keep them. Not all kids want to spend 6 or 7 years in college like some of these players. Now we're doing hypotheticals? Gifford is a baller, you do everything you can to get him to stay. If you didn’t see a recruit on social media with Rhule or our other coaches, that should answer your question.Which other high school recruits do you think we will turn loose? Recruitment begins the day they "commit"Ummmmm we’re over what we can take. Someone had to “decommit”.
I think Gifford's path to the NFL will be the same as his brother's. He might get drafted if he tests well, but he's going to have no problem getting a free agent contract with the skill set that he has. But I suppose NIL money could always influence a guy to play an extra year.I don't disagree with you but Rhule has said multiple times that if a guy has a good path to the NFL he won't try to convince him to stay.
