We know Jay has expressed some interest in the NBA.it looks like the Knicks are going to offer him a contract.IMO this is a real bad decision for him to make. The Knicks are a coaching grave yard, there have been 11 head coaches there in the past 16 years since Jeff Van Gundy left...if he is interested in the NBA he should wait,i'm sure better situations will soon arise

As a former employee of MSG, I heavily suggest Jay stay away! He's too good a coach and person to get involved with James Dolan. Pitino is on par with Knicks ethical standards.

No way Jay! He would be stupid to ever leave Villanova until.... Coach K is ready to retire and Duke is in need of a head coach. That’s if Duke goes outside the Duke family that is.

He has it made with total job security, forever at Nova. He's not going anywhere. As for Brad Stevens, none of us talked about him until 2010. I would love to see him be the next Duke coach, but I would be shocked if anyone at Duke has ever given it a thought. I for one have never seen the need to go "in house" for a coach. Plenty of teams do great without a former player as coach.

I don't think that the job security at Villanova has anything to do with any decision he makes,i'm sure he's quite financially secure.he's now won 2 national championships, and has expressed interest in the NBA.If he's looking for a new challenge he'll make the jump for sure,i expect sooner rather than later

You would be shocked if one of the premier college programs have thought about going after one of or the best youngest coaches out there??

I'm sure Brad Stevens name comes up in all circles....including at Duke. But I don't think he will be the next coach. I'd say pisgah only has slightly less odds than Stevens.

Of course, I thought it was a foregone conclusion that Capel would be our next head coach. Not so sure about that anymore. I would, however, be shocked if Duke's initial hire after K isn't someone from #TheBrotherhood.

Why are folks hoping he stays at Nova. They’re going to be tough competition next year. Without Jay, makes it much easier. By Jay. Hang on for a few years and then come coach at Duke.

What previous coach(es) were from the "brotherhood?" K wasn't, and he's been there so long it's hard to remember where Foster, Waters, Bubas, et al came from. My point is that there is no particularly long recent history of staying within the "brotherhood," so why is it so important now? Because so many assistants are from Duke? Enlighten me.

Bahahaha! I don't think it'll be Stevens even though it'd be great but I like knowing I have a .000000001% chance

Did #TheBrotherhood exist prior to K? None of Foster, Waters, Bubas, etc. were ever to replicate anything close to what K has been able to do at Duke. But that's so obvious it doesn't need explaining.

An no, while there is no history of hiring within the Duke family prior, history has also changed. Over the course of the last 38 years K has earned the right to have input. I just think he'll be allowed even more than that...whether we agree or not with that decision.

Lastly, K has molded something special at Duke doing things 1) his way, and 2) being highly, highly successful. Listen to former players talk about coming back (or home) to Duke. There's a certain bond that's been created like nowhere else, with maybe the possible exception of that school eight miles down the road. I think Duke would like to see that continue, and it's my contention that K's initial replacement will come from within #TheBrotherhood. I didn't say whether it was right or wrong, but I'd also be lying if I said I wasn't in favor of going that route.

I don't think Jay Wright would leave Nova. If I were the Knicks; Jason Kidd, Mark Jackson, or maybe even Fizdale would be my top candidates right now.

UConn brought back a former player, who won a title(s). He just got fired. So much for perennial job security. Nova is in a conf that is on the precipice of irrelevancy. Nova is the team keeping them relevant. Without Nova recent success, no one would care about Xavier. Most of his team is likely to leave. He's got some good players coming in, but the recent uptick of FBI activity could put the PG in question. If that ginger goes pro, the incoming recruits will be just good enough to put Nova on the bubble next year. And I suspect a hungry slate of conf rivals will play them like the NCAAT roster is still in place.
.
He just had 2-3 recruiting classes outperform their rankings, AND stay in school, AND not suffer any injuries. You can't plan on that sort of thing. All it takes is a few kids to mildly underperform in a conf that can't plan on 4+ tourney bids a year. Let him be on the bubble a few times and see how secure he is. Gary Williams was "secure" at UMD until he wasn't.
.
Given how well Stevens and Billy D have done in the pros, I bet the Knicks (who have a great young roster BTW, incl the type of sweet shooting big he craves) will offer 10ish million a year, which Nova can't hope to match.
.
Not saying he will, but it wouldn't surprise me.
