It was eliminated as a permanent sport after 2008, but the host nation gets to have five sports. Paris isnt interested in baseball/softball, but Los Angeles and Brisbane will be.

Tokyo didn't have breakdancing or modern penthatlon, they had baseball and softball. There is some talk of American football in '28 in LA instead of sport climbing. Asia and Europe have decent American football, but its a sport that the USA and Canada would dominate.

The IFAF World Cup is in Australia in 2023. If its not a bloodbath by the USA, they could add it for 2028. Interestingly enough, Japan has won two of the past five World Cups (USA won the other three). Obviously we aren't sending our best football players, but its interesting. Dylan Favre was on the 2015 World Cup Team.

Would be better to do a variation of the CWS schedule. Other sports have games before the opening ceremonies, so you could make it work.

Of course it did. Surely you saw the story about the German athlete whose horse refused to cooperate and derailed her medal bid? The pentathlon's been in every Summer Olympics since 1912.

I really wish MLB would send the best American players like the NBA used to. The entire baseball tournament in the Olympics lasted a week. I think MLB could find a way to work around that. Maybe have the team play a couple of games around the All Star break and then an exhibition game or two before the Olympics.

Only if we can make the team only Phillies, Mets, Nationals & Marlins. Seriously though, you’re not going to shut down MLB for 2-3 weeks in the middle of the season & add games & a lot of travel for you best players just to participate in a pretty meaningless tournament.

Japan sent the NPB all-stars, we sent a team of guys way past their primes or career minor leaguers. The World Baseball Classic is a much better measuring stick of baseball prowess.
