I have no idea how realistic an option Dixon would be the perfect hire. There is speculation linking him to TCU and UNLV. If he's looking to move, why not here? If you are Hobbs you have to at least make the phone call. It might be a million to one shot but you to at least make Dixon tell you no.Maybe he will get fired now. Hire him Hobbs ! His teams are rough to watch in the NCAA tournament . But still the NCAA tournament.
This would be a home run and better than any of the other names or phone calls floating around.
I realize its his alma mater but to me Dixon going from Pitt to TCU is slumming. Thats a tough job in a very tough conference with no real recruiting base. Its probably a worse job than RU given the upside that RU has.
Even if there is discontent at Pitt, Dixon would seem like a guy who can land a job at a Illinois or Minnesota next year or a Pac 10 school but TCU why?
He's a TCU alum. Facilities were just upgraded substantially and the alumns are very generous. The Big XII is a very good basketball conference.
I don't know Panther the Pitt job in my opinion is a really tough job. They are clearly proving themselves the best conference. No easy games other then BC evenVirginia Tech is getting a lot better under Buzz.I don't know whether Dixon will leave but I do know Rutgers would not be interested.
Dixon's buy out at Pitt is $10 million. Dixon has a base salary of $1.2 million but actually made $3.2 million in 2015 according to PPG tax records in 2015. (bonuses incentives etc.).
Jamie probably can stay at Pitt for his coaching career if he chooses.
Ben Howland left Pitt for his "Dream" job at UCLA.
UCLA got rid of Ben.
Where is Ben now.
I would prefer Jamie stay but in the end it is his call.
In any event Pitt will be fine. If Jamie leaves the $10 million buyout, Pitt's facilities (Pete etc) and membership in the ACC Conference will help Pitt secure a highly competent basketball coach.
HAIL TO PITT!!!!

Over Danny Hurley??Miller would be perfect at Pitt
Never said they were not . What I am saying it is proving to be a very tough job the ACC is just brutally tough even tougher then the old Big East. Just saying it is not an easy path to the tournament anymore for them like it seemed to be when in the old Big East. They were always near or at the top there. Now I could be wrong but don't think they have been near the top of the new ACC since there.Pitt is one of the nicest city campuses around and they have excellent basketball facilities. A good staff should have little trouble maintaining a strong program there.
Hire Brevin Knight as an assistant ,great recruiter.Cant blame him; the money is great; its his alma mater and Texas schools have no shortage of wealthy donors to build new facilities and pay the bagmen
If they get Archie Miller it would be grand slam for them I doubt he leaves Dayton.Archie Miller will then go to Pitt...Dayton will be open
I think you mean Brandin Knight?Hire Brevin Knight as an assistant ,great recruiter.
Pitt might be a school Archie would leave the Flyers for , if the price is right. If they get Archie Miller it would be grand slam for them I doubt he leaves Dayton.
I would not think money would be an issue Dixon had a 10 million dollar buyout. If I am Archive Miller though why have to beat out the Louisville and Dukes of the world instead of St Bonn and Uri.Pitt might be a school Archie would leave the Flyers for , if the price is right.
Ego, all great HCs have it and moving into a major basketball conference with a good program might have AM's ego stand up and take notice.I would not think money would be an issue Dixon had a 10 million dollar buyout. I don't see that happening. Sean Miller, maybe. I could even see Fran McCaffrey.Archie Miller will then go to Pitt...Dayton will be open
Think the smart ones like Miller and Mark Few and Jay Wright are figuring out it is not worth the bs a guy like Tom Cream goes thru every year to do that.Ego, all great HCs have it and moving into a major basketball conference with a good program might have AM's ego stand up and take notice.
Beating the better programs at what's considered a lower level isn't as satisfying as taking a major program and being considered one of the best in one of the best basketball conferences .
If ego didn't play into it, many great HCs would be still winning big at schools in what's considered 2nd tier conferences.

TCU just put $ 72 million into its arena and facilities. They may be bottom five now, but won't be for long.I know all that but at the end of the day, its the worst program in the Big 12 and its probably one of the worst power 5 jobs in the country along with RU, BC, Auburn
You really see Sean leaving what he has in Tucson before Archie would leave Dayton as far as Pitt's concerned.I don't see that happening. Sean Miller, maybe. I could even see Fran McCaffrey.
NC State or blue blood for Archie.
Um, no. TCU is in Fort Worth so the recruiting base is the Dallas Metroplex. Lots of talent there and elsewhere in Texas. Good basketball conference and TCU has tons of upside plus an upgraded arena and other facilities.I realize its his alma mater but to me Dixon going from Pitt to TCU is slumming. Arizona is a WAY better job. But when your wife hates it there, wants to move back east because in Arizona she has to get shots for her allergies...maybe, as I wrote earlier, you take the Pitt job. Maybe. You really see Sean leaving what he has in Tucson before Archie would leave Dayton as far as Pitt's concerned.
I would think the UofA would be a better place for a HC than Pitt.
Wildcat basketball rules that town and Sean has made a name for himself there.
Archie can only build his brand so much at Dayton and success at Pitt would build it a lot more,
in my opinion.
I like that TCU strategy, it sounds familiar...except for the big money payback to hoops part...so far...Um, no. TCU is in Fort Worth so the recruiting base is the Dallas Metroplex. Lots of talent there and elsewhere in Texas. Good basketball conference and TCU has tons of upside plus an upgraded arena and other facilities.
They put their eggs in the football basket while moving from Mountain West to Big 12 but are getting serious about hoops.
TCU over Minnesota and Illinois in a heartbeat. Even if I wasn't an alumnus
Did he actually say "no state tax"? He's going to be making millions a year. Where does a state tax figure in with all the other aspects about quality of life if you are a millionaire? The Kimball and Amon Carter museums give some class to Fort Worth, but at the end of the day, you are surrounded by Texans.Someone just called Francesca and asked why RU couldn't have hired Dixon. Fatso said he wouldn't be interested in the rebuilding job. Also said Texas jobs are better because no state tax.
