How is our current DC’s performance compared to our old DC’s performance related? In a thread about our old DC’s team?

Be serious
Insightful, since neither was our DC against Cincy last season. Try harder. Isn't there a team to the east whose board you'd be more comfortable posting on?

Por nada. Thanks for being an active new poster!
He is right tho. Our worst position coach last year was promoted to defensive coordinator, rather than doing a national search, Rhule hired another one of his buddies who was underperforming. The team is going to implode over the next two years and people will blame Frost or just our current reality, but the 2024 Husker team had the talent to be a playoff team, and to build for the future...instead Rhule kept the worst Ocoordinator and special teams coach on staff, and brought in his buddy to fail as a coach in the secondary, and a consultant to "keep and eye" on Tony White, the best dcoordinator in the nation. I mean, Rhule isn't going to fool anybody, fans are on to him and expect us to beat most teams on this schedule but it is sad because the team last year was very good on paper, and we had some very good coaches who are now winning other places.

If you go back and look at the film again, I think it was more personnel than scheme. When our starting D line was in they rocked. There was a HUGE drop off when the second group was in and much of that time it was the second group that allowed Sorsby to run free. I made the point yesterday that its just crazy to make seasonwide generalizations, good or bad, after one game.

It’s an exaggeration, but the list of teams that played Ohio State as tough as we did is pretty short.

A slightly better offense and we would’ve have our best win since 2015 MSU, and possibly the biggest Nebraska win in the 21st century.

It is okay to be frustrated with your team and lament bad personnel moves. I was done with the “trust what the coach is doing” schtick after Frost, you have to call it how you see it on the field.

Tony White is the best DC in the country. He totally shut down Indiana and UCLA last year.
Told myself the same to ease the pain of not even trying to go after someone like Scott Symons. Told myself “they still looked big and fast in the bowl game”.

Then I watched a future insurance salesman look like Cam Newton against us on Thursday.

If Michigan torches the defense, it’s time to let Snow run the show, and I suspect that’s a big part of why Rhule kept him on staff.

UCLA scored 28...NU had over 10 games in a row under frost where the opponent scored over 30. Against Indiana we had a -5 turnover margin, on the road, against a playoff team.

We lost every game but one by one score, and won 7, barely lost to eventual national champion on the road. We had the worst ocoord and special teams coach in the country...imagine if Rhule had hired non-friends and instead competent coaches at those two positions? We had a 5 star qb, good WRs, a physical back, and a very good dline, and veteran defense. You just have to be top 12 to be a playoff team...so yeah..we were good enough.

FSU has allowed 66 yards rushing against a top 10 team.

We allowed over 200 to a Big 12 team that had a losing record last year.

If you genuinely think our defense is in better shape than FSU’s, you’re going to overdose on copium.
Florida State gave up 254 passing yards.

We allowed only 69 yards passing.

If you genuinely think your Florida State defense is in better shape than NU's, you're going to overdose on copium.

FSU went 2-10 last year, so they can't be good (your logic)

So total yards it was about the same?

Good to know we made Cincy look like at team with over a dozen 5 stars

You can’t compare after just 1 game..
you could do the same thing and put Tony white against Tony white last year between the UCLA game and the Ohio State game. Clearly the Tony White who played Ohio State is the better coach. 🙄

No way. I'm gonna enjoy the continued decline of the overrated SEC.
I have a weird thing going on. I hated Alabama when they were the best year after year. But now that they have a new coach and everything in college football has changed, making Alabama just another team struggling to make the playoffs, I am rooting for them. Weird.

We also held them to under 100 yards passing. But we all know why you conveniently left that out.

Dude they had 270 yards of total offense, 2 TOs and only scored 17 points. The defense played a lot better than you want us to believe. There's a team across the river that plays pretty good D. Feel free to jump ship anytime.
8 ypc is not good, do you agree?

It is not great, but if you want to call me out on my math you best be damn sure to make sure you're math is correct. 202 yards on 29 carries comes out to just under 7 yards a carry. A little better than you're inflated 8 yards.

My turn now. Holding your opponent to 69 passing yards, 271 yards of total offense, causing 2 TOs and allowing only 17 points is also pretty good. Would you agree?

Sorry, didn’t get my words in. Nebraska’s running numbers weren’t bad as a team so that means Nelson and Mozee looked fine, too, right? By your logic anyway
