Yup. The timing is terrible. Like I said the NCAA need to do something about this. Everything should wait until the national championship is over or at the very least when the team's entire season is over whenever that is
In the long run, I think we will be fine. I'm worried about it disrupting this team. But I worry about everything.
I agree, "this sucks." Oh well, Jon and rest of staff will work thru it. I am wondering about all these rumors. I have talked to some Duke people tonite, and they tell me Boozers are still Duke bound despite the Miami move by Lucas.
I know NOTHING is for certain however. Can anyone shed light on Shelton Henderson (already signed for Duke next year)possibly heading to Miami with Lucas? Also, Foster not playing vs Wake. Could it have been because Jon knows he's headed to the U as well??

Hart, where did you hear Henderson could head to Miami? Is it because he went to the same high school? I haven’t heard anything and I think whenever there is a minor change with anything Duke related it brings out any and all rumors.
A very honest,diehard Duke fan and friend, who also formerly worked at Duke. He is my source, but doesn't mean it will happen Slice. We can only hope for the best.

I hate to see Jai leave especially during the season but I understand with the portal opening in March. The NCAA needs to push this back until after the tournament. Soon you will see bench depth leaving tournament teams similar to college football playoff teams. Let them all finish what they started. It’s unfair to the current teams trying to win a championship.
I just pray this doesn't affect anything this season, which I don't think it should. This rule is stupid though, the portal and all that should open up AFTER the Final 4 weekend. Miami had to do this now or else they wouldn't have a Head Coach when the portal opens up.

All of the above needs to be of concern. Jai is a good recruiter and will be a good coach. Competition is, what it is. Let's stay Faithful and Positive.
The Boozers are 100% coming. Getting Evans, Proctor, Brown, and Ngongba back are most important.
Everyone else could be replaced by a transfer veteran. Not downplaying the other guys, but that's now the era we live in.

How would we recommend the process be revised? It's reasonable for Miami to pursue a coach and sign him as soon as possible. It's reasonable for Jai to pursue/accept a job he wants at the time it's available. It's reasonable for players to announce intentions whenever they feel like it. Should there be a "dead period" like in off-season recruiting? Should the portal not officially open until after the FF, with all communication between coaches and potential portal additions prohibited?
Yes I think there should be a dead period during the season. Unlike College Football there isn’t a need to enroll in a school early (January for spring practice). If a player transfers mid season they can’t immediately play and have to wait until next fall. What is the rush to open the portal? The NBA draft is in June and early entry deadline is in May. Why couldn’t they open the portal in April? There would be plenty of time to find a new team and enroll for the summer sessions. The March portal makes no sense at all to me.
Did anyone read the article on Battier ? I only ask because he has moved to Charlotte, NC .
I know it’s a stretch but could he be looked at as a Jai replacement?

Not happy about this at all. The team will be fine although to me it’s both disloyal to those players and his boss. There’s also no doubt in my mind that he will absolutely try to poach somebody from Durham to Coral Gables if he can. NCAA continues to be one of the dumbest organizations on the planet. The portal should not even be open until the day after the national championship game.
If it didn't work out there and he wanted to return to Duke.

Forde already has no integrity when he wouldn't condemn Will Thomas swimming and beating his daughter Brooke Fordea couple years ago at the NCAA championships.
We can get political about that if you wanna be a d-bag using a dead name...
Whether Lia Thomas should be allowed to compete in women's swimming is a separate issue from your being disrespectful.
A parent of a swimmer Thomas beat doesn't have a problem with it; what right do you have to question his integrity?
