Say a prayer for them. From what little video has come out of there, it’s total devastation. You’ve got an EF3/4 tornado 40 miles wide moving 1 mph.

God already knows what is going on. No need to pray. Instead, give some money to Red Cross, donate blood, and donate your time raising money and supplies through your church.

God's got this, but action is needed.

Didn't the one that hit Houston a couple years ago stall in one place for several days?

Yea, but it wasn't a strong storm at that point. Even category 1 will do more damage if it's just sitting over one place, but it's nothing like a category 4/5 sitting in one place. I'm guessing hopetown is going to be gone. A lot of elbow key is high and will be safe from storm surge, but that wind is going to leave everything damaged. The other populated keys, I'm not sure are as high as Elbow. And it's going to be hell redeveloping those keys, because you aren't going to have good infrastructure to get stuff there and you don't have a rich country to front the infrastructure costs. They are going to have to hope a lot of rich people really, really want to get back there quickly.

Arch...I agree totally with your stance that people need to actively do what they can, but this argument always confuses me.

Jesus was the Son of God, and could've chosen at any time to stop what was happening. Yet, at His most difficult point prior to His torture and death, Jesus prayed. I think it is safe to say that God knew what was going on then, as well.

First reconnaissance film looks as bad as we feared. Lots of people have to be hurting.

I really thought that guy was probably dead. His last tweet Sunday night that they were trying to move the kids to a safer place was horrifying.

There's a press conference on now with the prime minister of the Bahamas. The video they're showing is totally devastating, and I'm sure the death toll will rise dramatically.

Just seeing the video from Abaco. Awful devastation. Expected, but finally seeing video makes it real. Can’t imagine the final casualty numbers..

Yeah I fully expected him to be dead. I kept refreshing his twitter page all day and it never changed.

Those people are going to need a lot of help immediately. It's truly a crisis.

Having devastation like that on an island is just a different ball game. On the mainland, as bad as things might be after a hurricane, it's pretty easy to get enough roads cleared to start shipping in water and food and then building supplies and equipment. Just keeping water supplied is an issue on an island like that. Then you have a continuous chicken and egg problem. You need equipment and materials to rebuild electrical grid and dock and road infrastructure and shelter, you need dock and road infrastructure rebuilt to get equipment and materials in, you need shelter to keep enough workers on the island to rebuild quickly, everything is harder without electricity, etc.
