-The team had flu and strep throat going around last week-Ceyair Wright was struggling physically vs. Wisconsin due to illness-Tomorrow we will practice like it’s a Wednesday-Hopes the team is hungry to get another win-Iowa is a difficult opponent to prepare for-Lessons of the game are lessons of the season - can’t fumble the ball on the 20-yard line vs Iowa-The guys who practiced the best last week played-If guys didn’t execute in practice, Dana took them out-“Dana is demanding they execute if they want to get on the field”-He also scaled back what we were doing, making it less complex for the offense-Iowa has always been the premier outside zone run team-There hasn’t been a game our guys haven’t wanted to win-Never doubted their effort-Offensively, our guys were relaxed vs. Wisconsin-We’re giving up too many big passing plays-The game vs. Iowa will come down to football, not the weather-Dylan Raiola was better this game as he was healthy and able to move around more effectively-“Playing as a freshman is really really hard”-He has gotten better every week, and this week it was really easy to see-It’s hard to believe when it hasn’t worked, and now it’s starting to work-Thomas Fidone’s 2 total snaps was a result of coaches decision, not injury related-Luke Lindenmeyer has accelerated since Dana arrived-Fidone had a great practice out there today-Dana is blunt with every position, you aren’t going to play if you don’t execute-Malcolm Hartzog was out there today and ready to go-Malachi Coleman will enter the transfer portal-Turner Corcoran will likely be ready for bowl practice-Dana Holgerson is thoughtful, insightful, and methodical-Want to allow our guys to go out there and execute-When the grass fields are workable, we always try and practice outside-“We’re not going to hand the football to Ty Robinson any time soon”-Ty Robinson has been dominant and should be up for every accolade - “he’s the total package”-Coach Rhule is unsure what happened with Donovan Raiola and the cop during postgame Wisconsin

I am hoping White gets the memo.

There are a few players on defense that were not held to same standard DH is holding guys to on offense.

The secondary will be way better next year. Coop resigned in July and Butler got here at the beginning of August and didn't even have a full month before the 1st game to really work with them and learning his system on the fly doesn't take the place of working with them a whole offseason. Had Butler been here for the winter conditioning and the spring game, the secondary would been light years better than we are seeing now. Butler's teaching style and philosophy is much different that Cooper's was and Butler is teaching Pro Style which Coop didn't. For example, what was mentioned during the game is each Saftey has their own scheme which is NFL, not the college ranks. These guys have had to learn A LOT this year on the fly. Butler know's what he's doing as he coached the top secondary in the NFL all 5 years he was with the Bills and incidentally during that same time all 5 years, the Bills boasted the best defense in the NFL so think about that. Step away from the ledge.

The reason Butler is here is, he wanted the vacant coordinators position with the Bills but went to someone else so he left and we got a boon and think he was promised the coordinators postion here when TW decides to leave if he even does. What I'm afraid of, is when and if TW ever leaves he takes the entire staff with him and that is something to be kind of afraid of. Don't think for one moment that when Butler was annouced as our new secondary coach the powerhouses didn't immediately take notice of the top secondary coach in the league 5 years in a row leaves them and comes here. I bet you anything, after the season the big boys are gonna try and get him away from us regardless of this year as they know the situation he came into but not worried as they know what he's capable of.

I hope you're right about Butler and the secondary looking better once he's had more time.

I don't care what he coaches, pro or college style defending, as long as he's able to communicate it to college kids in a quick & effective manner. I feel like we've been thru too many coaches around here who are trying to teach complicated concepts to basically part time players.

Here's the problem, he may have to simplify it as college players are very limited in practice time to learn systems unlike the NFL as that is their 40+ hour a week job during the season, so they have plenty of time to learn and perfect systems.

Agree. We have a DC that overall seems pretty good, but in big games and moments we never seem to just stone the opponents offense. They seem to complete any pass they want or run at will.
Our record reflects that. I am hoping that Tony moves on and Butler too. Butler coaches secondary and they are a weakness.
I’d feel better with Malloe from UCLA or DJ Durkin from Auburn. Let them pick their assistants.

Which raises a question: WHAT IN THE HELL were we doing for the, what, 21 games this offensive staff coached prior to DH arriving? Playing the guys that were best at grabass?

Losing. A lot.

Primarily due to the inability to move the ball and score points. And that was apparently partly because the offensive staff was playing guys that weren't able to execute well in practice.

I remember knowing it was rhule right after the ku coach told trev no...then shortly after wisconsin got their coach...I think fickle is wanting ohio state job someday, may, may not happen

In case you haven't noticed, he's become our latest "resident blow hard, homer, sunshine pumper, how dare you ever question the greatest football staff of all time, they can do no wrong" guy.

How do we know how true this really was, I understand his buyout from Carolina, but did Rhule tell this to Benning other wise where would Benning know this as fact.

I do believe in the beginning of the season, you have to give guys more than 1 chance. But I agree, at some point, especially this late into the season, players gotta have it figured out.

If they "need more time to be coached" this late in the season, it's too late for that player. At least for the current season.

People I know who were tight with Trev say Fickle was the backup plan. Fickle didn’t say yes to Wisconsin until after we had reached an agreement with Rhule. That is fact. Inquiries to gauge interest were made I believe to multiple agents of other coaches but Rhule was always a Trev’s first choice because of his reputation of as a relationship and program builder. His network in Texas high school coaching was a big deal.

We’re playing almost the exact same guys on offense. The difference is number of snaps and how we’re using them. The play calling now fits their strengths and the line calls are more logical and easier to execute it appears to me. Dana has helped Dylan immensely. Hell we’re still running Haarberg out there for his obligatory 2 run plays per game.
