10pm BTN
Iowa -1.5
O/U 139.5

The Hawkeyes (16-5, 6-5) travel to Seattle to take on the Huskies (12-10, 4-7).

Iowa looks to try and close out the west coast trip with a win. The Huskies are not a great team but they don’t get blown out either. They stayed within 10 points of Michigan, Illinois Nebraska, USC and UCLA.

I’m sticking with my original prediction of a Hawkeyes loss 76-68

They are loaded. If they come to play and hit shots,a depleted Hawkeye squad is in trouble.
Hoping they have an off nite...
Hawks 71 huskies 70 OT.

Iowa's depleted? If you're referring to Banks, Ben said he expects he'll be able to go, but we'll see. If someone else is out, I'm either forgetting or unaware.

I agree that it's not going to be an easy game, though.

Banks issues deplete this team as he is clearly our 2nd best player.
Hope he can go.

IIRC Wash has a couple of big guys inside and a couple of good guards. I would guess they will keep the bigs down low and try to prevent all the cuts to the basket that Iowa likes to do. As usual, we will need to avoid turnovers and get big games from guys not named Stirtz to win -Sage, Koch, Hausen, Folgieras have all shown they have the potential to really impact a game.

As stated elsewhere, late start time sucks but I think they have had time to adjust.

Article giving a preview of the game. Also indicates that Banks expected to play (but who knows how much).

Rebounding and turnovers will determine outcome, IMHO. Banks, needs to play well not just play and Ben said he will play. Match or win the rebounding game and win the turnover battle, recipe for success.

ICYMI....I posted what follows in another thread yesterday afternoon

See the video below, where Ben previewed tonight's game.

Washington has a lot of size & they play with a lot of physicality.

Ben said Washington is talented; they got some good players from the transfer portal, and their best player is a true freshman.

Ben said Washington has had a difficult conference schedule; their 7 conference losses are to UCLA, Michigan State and Michigan and road losses at Indiana, at Purdue at Nebraska and at Illinois.

Ben has never coached a game as late as 10 pm Central Time. He said everyone has to pace themselves during the day & be ready to go.

Looks like they will be flying back right after the game, so they won't arrive in Iowa City until the early morning hours (roughly 6 am CT).

Tomorrow (Thursday) the team will be off, so they can reacclimate to the time change; they'll get back at it on Friday.

Pace of play is somewhat similar, although Washington is ranked at 169 compared to Iowa at 360. Make shots and keep turnovers low. Grinder coming.

I'm almost 70 and after working out this morning and walking this afternoon I plan to stay up for this one. Feel grateful to have the flexibility as a senior to have the opportunity to watch.

Loved the comment above that Ben didn't travel all the way to the Pacific Northwest to lose. This team has shown grit and the ability to play through adversity. That bodes well for tonight whether we have Banks at full speed or not.

We finally get a game on BTN and it doesn’t start until 10:00 pm.
We've had several games on BTN. I downloaded the Fox One app to watch as I don't have BTN with my cable package and it has seemed well worth the investment. We got the 8:00 slot in the Triple Header which means 10:00 CT. Comes with the territory in this new media deal.

Worried about the Huskies size. Rebounding and points in paint going to be critical.
We have struggled against teams with size. Purdue and Illinois gave us fits. Hoping for a win but with a EST start at 11:00, I'll be in deep RIM by then. Go Hawks!

Steinbach is the 6'11" freshman; he's from Germany.

As you can see, their 3 leading scorers are all capable from 3.

Gonna have to box out and limit 2nd chance points.

Washington's expected starters:

6'11" C Franck Kepnang:.................6.5 pts,.........6.9 rebs, 51% FG
6'11" F Hannes Steinbach:.......17.6 pts,.....11.4 rebs, 53% FG, 37% from 3
.....6'7" F Bryson Tucker:..........................5.9 pts,.........4.1 rebs,....42% FG, 24% from 3
.....6'4" G Zoom Diallo:...........................15.2 pts,.........3.5 rebs,.....50% FG, 33% from 3
.....6'4" G Wesley Yates III:...............13.3 pts,.........3.4 rebs,.....40% FG, 37% from 3

Surprised they are flying back after the game. Do they have a charter plane designed to provide LOTS of extra leg room for these guys?

Good omen(s) for tonight, fellas. I definitely saw at least 1 hawk on the way home, maybe 2.

76-67, Iowa tonight.

Bennett Stirtz keeps reminding the unranked teams why he's in the Top 10 on NBA Draft boards. Hoping AF, Coop and Hausen can keep their roll going from Sunday night as well.

To borrow Fran's schtick, I demand Iowa wins tonight because I will be a bit perturbed if I have to stay tuned in until after midnight and the Hawks lose.

Not saying we can’t lose, but calling Washington loaded seems like a bit of a stretch. For a team that is 12-10 and 4-7 in conf.

Their last 6 games (3 common opponents):

L, 72-82, vs Michigan
L, 63-80, vs Mich State
L, 66-76, at Nebraska
W, 72-57, vs Oregon
L, 66-75, at Illinois
W, 76-62, at Northwestern
