big time huge game tonight
Iowa 5-5 in the Big Ten (tied for 7th)
Northwestern 6-3 (2nd)

Ahron Ulis has blossomed ... been playing lights out lately
PMac is back
I know this is going to be a tough game.. but I really think the Hawkeyes are growing as a team and keep getting better as the season moves forward.

but of course... the biggest factor this game will be the refs

~go Hawks !

tied up at halftime 39-39
if the Hawkeyes take the lead early in the 2nd half and the refs go nuts again..
my hope is Fran goes nuts and gets that 2nd T.

Peyton Sandfort hits a big shot at the end of the half...
this Northwestern team is incredibly good... its no wonder they are in 2nd place.

big opportunity for the Hawkeyes to do something special tonight.

55-54 Hawkeyes
refs refusing to call a foul on Northwestern right now
won't even call the flop by Northwestern
its a dogfight

This team has a lot of balance. Rebraca and Sandfort were the stars tonight but they had 5 guys in double figures. Rebraca worked hard tonight-he would get the game ball from me. 20/10 against some tough guys and big guys for Northwestern.

Rebraca and Sandfort in particular played with the fire that Chris Street embodied. Everyone who played, once again, had their Chris Street moment(s). Every Hawkeye hung in there and played through the tough times, then clobbered the visitors at crunch time. It was beautiful.

NW is a terrific team. They had already beaten Michigan State and Indiana on the road. So that win last night was especially meaningful and showed what this Iowa team can be down the stretch and into the NCAA tourney. But as Rebraca said, beating NW just made Saturday's sold-out battle against Illinois that much bigger. There are plenty of teams to dislike in the Big Ten. NW isn't one of them, but Illinois is in a class by itself as a hated rival. Crushing the orange would cap a pretty nice, wonderful, fun, exciting, productive week for the Hawkeyes. May that sold-out crowd take it the Illini from before the opening tip and keep it going through the post-game interviews. How about the Iowa Athletic Department distribute thunder sticks and gold towels. Leave no idea on the shelf that could help the Hawkeyes send the visitors back home to cry in their Champaign.
