7pm BTN
Iowa -6.5
O/U 129.6

The Hawkeyes (12-2, 2-1) travel north to take on the Gophers (9-5, 2-1). Minny is fresh off a win at Northwestern.

This isn’t a great gophers team but they are historically tough to beat at home in the barn.

I think Vegas knows what’s up. This will be a low scoring brawl. I’m seeing a 72-65 hawks victory.

If Iowa perform to the level they're capable of, for most of 40 minutes instead of closer to 20 like the UCLA game, the Hawks will win at The Barn going away tonight.

Regardless, this is one of those "must win" games in terms of those games against teams that will most likely end up in the bottom third/half of the league standings in March. Even at the opponents arena.

I like the Hawks 83-63 tonight. Even if they do struggle and only barely pull it out, this is a game they'll want to be in the W column in March for multiple reasons.

They also want a win tonight because they got a murderer's row of games waiting in the next 3. Illinois on Sunday, @ Purdue (next Wed) and @ Indiana (next Sat).

Going back through Ben McCollum's quotes from yesterday's Zoom, found this one interesting. Was talking about letting teams come back from big deficits (like UCLA early 2nd half the other day) ... says you can't let up.

“The difference in levels is that the players at this level are so good. The coaching’s good and all that stuff. But there’s a lot of good coaches at D2. Sometimes a lot better coaches at D2, to be perfectly honest, just from X’s and O’s. ... (At this level,) you can’t just go 95%. They’re going to come back. They’re just good. You have to make sure you’re imposing your will and getting after them. … Division II, you could go 95% in the second half and you could still build on your lead.”

I’m surprised the line is where it’s at and we’re 65% to win. Figured it’d be closer. Hope that’s how it plays out.

I would say an encouraging statement about the Hawks and wanting to cheer them to victory, but because that's an emotional statement and would be before the game is over, that isn't allowed here by certain users. So therefore I can only say I am here to watch the game unfold without any potential emotional feeling whatsoever and all potential feelings will be relegated to posts after the game has concluded.

I would comment that I'm concerned about Iowa on both of the ends of the floor so far, especially on offense, but that would be prior to the game's conclusion, therefore I am unable to comment on it at this time.

First time watching Minnesota.

They might be a little better than I thought .....
watched a game of theirs the other night and they are pretty good team, Iowa will have to play well to get a W IMO.
