The coaches need to find a post player 6'10" or bigger that compete in the BIG TEN. Purdue keeps running out 7 ft post players.
I know big guys will suck up the NIL pool. But if Iowa wants to compete for championships they need some height and muscle in the paint.

Not if it keeps Iowa from getting a PG.

A big would be great. But with the way the roster looks to shape up, I'd probably even prioritize 2 two guards before a big

2 guards and a big. Matteone (spelling) seems like he would be better off transferring. But I’m guessing.

Position-less basketball is the game Iowa should be looking at playing,.. While nice to have, a big post man is not a priority unless your name is Matt Painter..

Defensively?

Yes, both sides,... Besides, it's going to take (2) point guard recruits to even have a chance at replacing Stirtz's minutes,.. A big is a luxury that Iowa can't afford to shop for in a serious way.

Don't have to be a "post player" but you need someone to match an opponents size

You need to match up, but it's not entirely about size,.. The traditional Purdue in the paint post player is a dinosaur position.

I mostly agree with that.

But in general, a true center, defensively, is always better than positionless

If you start doing the math of how you replace the offensive output of your departing players, you can also look at the possibility of playing better defense, thus negating the need to replicate as many points. How many points could a good defensive center stop for Iowa next year? 4? 6? More? Whatever the number, that's theoretically that many fewer points you would need to generate on offense.

You're the only one talking about traditional (offensively) post players.

What you say isn't wrong. But others seem to be able to make a distinction.

And for the record, traditional post players still remain some in college. And definitely a ton of guys that should be traditional post players, if coaches weren't all using ball-screen offenses.

Also for the record, Purdue didn't use their bigs for post-ups near as much as they have in the past.

Also, expect to see much more posting up from Iowa next season, to help generate offense with the loss of Stirtz. Probably not camp on the block post-ups as much as cleared side back-downs. Al and Jirak will get them, especially as they a great passers. And a group of skilled forwards that can punish mismatches
