GTFO Iowa troll. Iowa has zero AP, UPI, Coaches poll, BCS or CFP National championships. Those are all that matters.
There were undefeated teams in every year that iowa has tried to claim a natty. Iowa was never one of those teams in any of those years. Their claims are stupid and grasping at relevance. It's even more stupid since they all say "stop living in the 90's" and then their comeback for us saying "well at least we've won" is "well look at the 50's"
You mean they (you) claim a national championship, right? The 1958 title they claim is pretty absurd. They finished 8-1-1 and finished #2 in both polls behind undefeated LSU. Just claiming a national championship awarded by any publication is weak. Nebraska would have 9 more national championships if we did that NINE.

Until 2014, all football championships in Division 1 FBS level were awarded by "polls" by coaches or writers. So, today, we clearly have a 4 game College Football Playoff, which eliminates the 1997 season argument:
- Michigan
- Nebraska
- Colorado
- Georgia Tech
- BYU beat 6-6 Michigan in bowl game for the MNC
You should tell your "friend" he is confusing won with claimed. LSU won the National Championship in 1958, they were undefeated and finished #1 in both polls.
While this is accurate it doesn't tell the entire story. LSU refused to play integrated teams at that time and Iowa did so they weren't playing the same competition levels which is why several polls (that were as or more relevant at the time) voted them as champion.
I felt dirty rooting for Iowa to beat Minnesota. I don't want to live in a world where P.J. Fleck is undefeated.
