Isn't one Director of hoops operations?
Yes., but the other one was supposed to be hired as the third assistant coach .Adding Hobbs means the only available slot is the second assistant coach unless a new title is being created to replace O'Koren's position which would allow for Young and Knight.

Isn't there one spot that can be used for Knight, the one Shoes is filling now ?
If Brandin is really coming to Rutgers, it will be Shoes' spot he takes.

Why is thinking positive thoughts here considered a negative???....Knight and Hobbs can be a dynamic duo, even if it's a short term deal before Knight lands the HC somewhere in the near future. This makes sense on so many levels that it may take a few weeks to develop or just a few days....

Hobbs has already been there and done that as a HC at a couple of stops and has nothing to prove and earned his money over the years....he and Knight would both be well compensated for their efforts here at RU.

The longer this goes, the better it is for RU hoops....

Prediction: Knight ends up elsewhere, and people ***** and moan about Pikiell not being able to seal the deal, all because a guy with 31 Twitter followers said it was happening.

This source is certainly less reliable than Ron Rothstein who tweeted Donyell Marshall to Rutgers.

Exactly!!! Positivity!!! Corey comes back. Key current pieces stay. Knight and/or Young join the staff. We add a few more nice pieces this Spring.

And away we go!!!

What was Young's capacity at Stony Brook and what makes him a attractive get?
Sorry, I am out state and remember working at Stony Brook in the 80"s and wonder why would anyone go to a school out in Looong Island. It took 4 years to figure out how to get around the only science building that was round but had spokes leading from the elevators to the building walls. They also did not connect which you had to back track to the elevators and work your way back. In the early stages the Japanese microscope companies had there research for the US and quality control on campus. I know because I sold to Olympus many times and the user's spoke Japanese only.

not much. New Haven and Northeastern (for the coach who succeeded Calhoun at NE). 11 years with Pikiell. His rep is based on his work with Pikiell, coaching the frontcourt and recruiting metro area. seems like hed be a solid ac behind Hobbs and Knight in the pipe dream.

Unless Rickard came with the understanding that he might not be in a recruiting position I can't see how we are adding two additional high caliber assistants. Supposedly even the DOBO position is filled. If there is a way that someone can make this happen that would be tremendous but hard to figure how it works.

Can you have a dedicated Recruiting Coordinator like football ? Someone who can't visit recruits but handles all the on campus stuff, social media, etc.

I would throw as much money as you can at Knight but I don't see it. He just turned down a position at Pitt with Stallings because it would have been a demotion along with the fact he was mad at not being seriously considered for the head job at Pitt once Dixon left.

Find it hard to believe he would take a pay cut, a demotion and a much more difficult job at Rutgers after leaving a better job at his alma mater.

You would have to make it very enticing for him.

Yup should offer him whatever you can.

Big problem in addition to money is title, the Assoc HC position went to Hobbs already, Brandin is not going to want to play second banana especially after he held the AC position at Pitt already.

But he is a free agent right now so definitely worth trying to convince.
