I don't know that we'll look any better if they are, but the list is worthless regardless if they're not.

They're probably going to look worse if you adjust them. Going into this weekend Memphis was #121, LA Tech was #124 and NC State #40 in total defense.

I don't think having a 40 yard edge in offense after 3 games says anything about the outcome of future games. I just thought it was an interesting statistic going into the game that we are that close. I am really concerned about the 45 ypg rushing! We are seeing 6 in the box before the snap and then only 3 rush. I would think that delaying the handoff would result in more yardage.

Don't feel too stupid. I was sitting there thinking the same thing until I saw DawgatAuburn's post. I mean, we should both feel stupid. Just not too ​stupid.

I think a lot of the angst amongst the fanbase (certainly a large part of mine) is shown right here in this chart. We've supposedly got an offensive minded coach whose offense is, to put it mildly, stuck in the mud. Meanwhile, our rival school, who has had the exact same amount of time as us to install a new offense is not only humming right along without any issues but legitimately has one of the top offenses in the country. We keep hearing that it takes time to develop Leach's offense. I don't think the folks at OM are any smarter than us but they sure seemed to pick a new offense that doesn't take all that much time to develop.

I'm sure the Leach defenders will jump in to tell us all the reasons why OM is a paper tiger and we're just a few plays away from being an offensive juggernaut. But, while stats certainly don't tell the whole story in any situation, these in the original post certainly paint a bleak picture.

I’m not posting this to tell you our offense has been good, because it hasn’t. This is not a defend Mike Leach post. But context has to count for something too, and we have played a relatively more difficult schedule than the teams we are being compared against. That is objectivity true.

I guarantee you there are not 9 better offenses in this league than Alabama. We’re looking at three games here, and most teams haven’t played a conference game yet.

In other words, we allowed them to do about 30-40% of what they normally do, and we still lost. To an AAC team. This illustrates what is possible if Leach’s offense just continues doing what it’s been doing. It’s not enough

Change two plays and you can likely take 17 points off the board for Memphis. The scoop and score (our fault) and the punt return (refs fault).

So no, I'm not blaming the loss on Leach's offense.

I think we can blame the offense. They scored 17 the first half, 3rd quarter nothing even when they had a 1st and goal (should’ve kicked the FG) they came away with zero. Wasn’t till late in the fourth quarter when they ended up with 2 scores. Let’s not forget all the penalties on the offense, it cost us a 2 point conversion and at various possessions field position. So poor coaching, a stagnant offense and multiple penalties all on the offense.

That's only 14 points. Doesn't matter. The offense only scored a net 22 points vs one of the worst defenses in all of college football and failed on two 2-point conversions. That's not good, and I'm being kind.

We are averaging about 54 pass attempts per game and you think we are only running 29 plays per game?
