How much of what we’re seeing could be related to that? Geo clearly missing a step on shots and his steals have gone away ... Jacob seems alright ... Harper still shoot is off since his practice injury which we don’t know what it was ... McConnel **** has been off but seems
To have found it today ... Myles was limping at the end of the last game ... and of
Course Cliff out

Might partially explain cold shooting but doesn’t explain the lack of intensity and general malaise.

I've been wondering the same. The players have been saying they're ok, and I've been believing them (what else would they say, though), but something's got to explain this, and lingering injuries, despite what they say, just might be it.

Injuries keep you from moving the way and doing the things you normally do, which causes you to get dominated physically (especially against physical teams), which in turn frustrates, embarrasses and discourages you because you know what you're capable of when healthy, which then gets in your head and causes you to perform even worse... from in-game decisions to execution.

What really disappoints me is that the team captains have to keep their guys from falling victim to the emotional pitfalls and keep the teams spirits and energy up, but that hasn't happened.

I'm also thinking these are a major contributor to the performance in the last several games. To have so many players affected by relatively minor injuries has to be a big deal. And from the looks of the two ankle injuries Geo had, I'm not sure how he's playing. Of course, he is, what, 22?

hmm vs Michigan State in the opening 5 minutes, the team was a complete mess so the injury thing can only be used so much

alot of teams have injuries, OSU was missing their starting point guard, they played a high school player for portions of the game

Don't buy the injury excuse. With that said, my original feeling on watching Mag's HS tapes is that he could be very effective as a defensive stopper and could cover guys like Liddel from OSU. We were using Harper on him yesterday. I think, when healthy, Mag can help us with our defensive/scrappy identity.

Rutgers has had injury to every significant player except Matis and Johnson. The BIG is a league of attrition and we are very thin from a scoring standpoint. The defense is suffering as well because you need to be able to move laterally and the ankle and hip

You cannot ignore it. Is Geo the same guy you have seen for 3 years? Have you not seen a total difference in Ron , since his injury , not just his shot , but his failure to rebound, more off the ball, play defense , which he is normally a top defensive player , with a ton of big blocks. We played like a top 15 team 3 games ago against Iowa , beat a real good Illinois team , and now cannot do simple things. Even Jacob played tentative against MSU shooting 5-18 and not going strong to the hole. Injuries have led to us not playing our normal defense and definitely affected our rebounding.
