Friday the 13th in this year of 2020. So I was talking with a friend from the global south, and she tells me that in South America it's Tuesday the 13th that everyone is superstitious about. It's all so arbitrary, but Friday the 13 has a nicer ring, at least it does in English.

OTT: They also use military time in South America, which I get, but Working 9 to 5 kinda looses it's appeal as Working 09:00 to 17:00.

Friday the 13th is only bad luck if you were a Knight Templar back in the day.

IIRC, the origin of the expression has to do with a power struggle between the Knights Templar & the Papacy. Allegedly, the Knights Templar discovered something in Jerusalem during the Crusades that they used against the Papacy to build wealth and power in the succeeding years.

The Pope conspired with the Kings of Spain & France to end the threat. In a bold stroke, on Friday the 13th all of the Knights of Templar in Europe were simultaneously attacked and killed by soldiers provided by the Kings. Only a handful escaped with their lives.
