Age 79. I'll keep my thoughts to myself. Unfortunately though the Rutgers connection will always be there.

Saw this and felt drawn here to the board. I´ve seen the news in a few places, unexpectedly, and every article or comment thread refers to what he said about the Scarlet Knights. I fear an old wound is going to be tender for the next couple of days.
Amen to that.Time heals all wounds, especially when an apology is given and accepted.
Rather than remember the incident I’ll offer my condolences to all of Don Imus’ family and all that care for the man along with bringing up Don and the Rutgers team came to an agreeable understanding over his mistake.
I bare no ill will towards him over an incident that was settled and will not make issue on what happened , which might be considered hurtful to those morning his death.
But point out that incident had a ending that was agreeable to all involved.

By biggest platform do you mean MSNBC? I always figured he had more people listening to his show via radio syndication than watching his show on MSNBC.The RU remarks really were the beginning of the end for him. While he was on the air after that, he lost his biggest platform and his clout.
MSNBC the graveyard for over the hill radio personnelBy biggest platform do you mean MSNBC? I always figured he had more people listening to his show via radio syndication than watching his show on MSNBC.
Always thought he was a weird fit on MSNBC.
Imus was a complicated man with great pipes. A radio legend who said some foolish things, more than once or twice, took an active role in improving conditions at Walter Reed Army Hospital, and established a Cattle Ranch for Kids with Cancer.
I was listening that morning he talked about the Rutgers WBB team. I remember thinking the Tennessee girls were more attractive but
"he just f#cked up."

Not a wound for us . Gave us a huge national stage of all positive publicity. The program has never been talked about so much. The Imus team made the national finals and are best remembered because of Imus . I am sure people will reach out for reactions from carson and others . Probably first major interview in years. Long live Imus team. The best we had
So many things wrong with this praise of a team that was insulted then made to be part of the insulator's team.Old wound for Imus and his supporters maybe . Not a wound for us . I feel calling the Rutgers WBB team Imus' Team is showing disrespect to the players that were insulted by Imus and honoring the insult he gave.[sick]:chairshot:
The insult overshadowed the accomplishment, that's what should be remembered.Like you said the apology was given and accepted . The reason why they are in the news today is because of Imus. Not because they made the finals. Sadly, that’s the truth .
I choose to remember the basketball accomplishments and not the insults. It seems like you do too. But most don’t .
The insult overshadowed the accomplishment, that's what should be remembered.
That team deserved to be remembered on its own merits not the insult that distracted from the pride that team's players should have felt for themselves.
Calling them the Imus Team , just adds to the disappointment all RU WBB fans should feel knowing Imus' words took something away from what the RU WBB Team did that year and how good it was.
What I'm saying is the Rutgers team is remembered for the team Imus insulted andYes, the insults overshadowed the accomplishment . That’s what I am saying is they are more remembered for being Imus team than national runner ups . That’s just how it goes.
I never said they was good or fair. I personally feel it is not good and it’s unfair . But my personal feelings don’t matter here. They got a raw deal
What I'm saying is the Rutgers team is remembered for the team Imus insulted and
calling them the Imus team is putting the insult like a benefit that makes the insult more positive than a negative, even if that wasn't your intention.
To me that year's team became the team Imus disrespected and the term the Imus team is a insult to them , even if the insult was unintentional.
