Wait, are you saying Sestina's was a moving screen?

It was definitely a moving screen and it’s clear he leaned into Quickly too. It’s called more often than not when a player hits the floor, even by a ref at the top. In this case it was right in front of him.

No, he wasn’t lol anyway, IQ was leveled and I was HEATED! It was DEFINITELY INTENTIONAL! Idgaf what Raftery says. **** him!

Edit: Now that I read it again, maybe he was. My bad. [roll]It wasn’t a moving screen. We’ve been hit with that call so many times this year. It’s really mind blowing.

I was just confused because the one on Quickley wasn't a screen. The defender threw a shoulder into him as he ran the baseline so that is why I thought he was referring to the Sestina screen when he said it was a moving screen.

Yeah. I believe I may have jumped the gun. It does read just like you say. My bad.

Seems like any and every time they can whistle us for a moving screen, they do. Hell, I’ve heard Cal on he sidelines screaming, “no moving screens” a few times recently. Sure didn’t look like a moving screen to me. I don’t think any of them we’ve been whistled for in SEC play have been. Let that sink in.

Pons or whoever it was had his hip and shoulder in to that one, even before the contact he was going forward to make sure he rung his bell good. If it were EJ setting the pick on the same play reversed it would have been a flagrant 2. For those who didn't think it was anything look at it right before the contact, he rocked him good. It was at least a foul and nothing was called, the ref has got to make a call on that play, EJ and Nate have been called for a lot less this year.

The Sestina screen was definitely not a moving screen. I could even understand the call if he threw a shoulder into him or pushed him down after the contact but none of those things happened. It was about as a textbook screen with no unnecessary contact as you could have. If that is a foul on the offense then every screen should be called an offensive foul. :joy:

Nate and EJ were called for a lot less this game. LOL

No way the call on Sestina was legit. That kind of play happens nearly every possession for every team. No team would have enough players to finish a game if refs called that a foul all the time. It was just another incompetent ref who shouldn’t be out there on the court.

Crazy thing is Rafferty’s dumb a$$ says IQ ran into the TN goon although the goon was moving. And didn’t see anything raised. No moron he leaned with his shoulder.

College bb is getting hard to watch with the refs.
And hard to listen to with all the sucky commentators.

To be fair that wasn't the only call Rafferty seemed to be wrong about Saturday.

I really don't understand how a ref can ignore the Quickley incident unless he willfully chooses to call nothing based on the uniform color.

Someone from UK should be in the SEC offices with this clip beating on
the Commissioners desk.

Cal should mention that Coach Stoops has requested a copy to use as
an instructional aid.

Another crazy thing is we’ve watched our opposition flop on numerous, numerous occasions this season. Not one time has our opponent been hit with a technical for flopping. It was supposedly a big point of emphasis this year. Well, I couldn’t tell. You just gotta shake your head and laugh anymore. It’s truly amazing!

Fulkerson flops more than a Duke player does. I think I saw at 1 time he had drawn 10 fouls and most were just due to him throwing his arms up and head back when a guy would get close to him.
Grant Williams taught him well!
Imagine how many more calls Williams would’ve gotten with long stringy hair.
Refs see Fulkerson’s hair flailing and there goes the whistle.

Quickly - defender beat him to the spot and was a no call but should have blown the play dead since we had possession of the ball.
Sestina - time and distance are relevant. When screening a stationary opponent from behind (outside the visual field), the screener must allow the opponent one normal step backward without contact.

Quickley was fouled no matter how you try to spin it. And technically I guess Sestina didn’t set a legal screen because the UT player didn’t have a full step before contact. But if that’s the standard refs are going to use then they’ll be blowing a whistle multiple times per possession every game and nobody wants to see that crap. The question is why do these iffy calls seem to be going against UK at a far higher rate than their opponents. The refs seem to be holding UK’s players to a tougher standard on these calls.

1. It is the same white ref in both.
2. On the Quickly screen...he's laying on the floor in front of him and doens't even bother to stop the game...

But he'll be onto to the next game, no explanation, no repurcusions, etc...

Mike Roberts....same guy that called zero fouls on Auburn in the last 9 minutes in the regional final last year while PJ Washington was getting hammered on every possession. Also same guy that called the BS technical on Maxey at SC for hanging on the rim.

With that kind of outcome, it was either a flop by Quickly or a foul on Tennessee. The ref just started shaking his head instead of protecting the player. I though when the offense had the ball and were down a man for injury, (under the basket even), they had to stop play. That ref just completely blew that call every way possible. Should get suspended for ignoring basic safety.

Instead he will probably be reffing the Final Four.

That was actually 10 fouls called on us while guarding him in THE FIRST HALF.

***-er-son is an embarrassment to the game of basketball. I have never seen a 6'9" pu$$y flop that trailer park hair as many times as that jerk did Saturday.
EVERYTIME a UK player got close to him, his head would go flying back like he had been shot. And the refs bit on it every single time.
