I'm still calling Coach O overrated

Burrow was a once-in-a-lifetime "cheat code" that fell in their laps and his all-world staff will eventually get poached. I don't fully trust him as a CEO. He'll definitely recruit like a fiend, but let's be honest. LSU recruits itself. Hell, Mississippi kids that live south of Hazelhurt all claim LSU is their "dream school". I predict more 9-10 win seasons than people think. And nothing pisses people off more than "almost" seasons. Especially when you've just won it all.

I think he’s learned enough to keep a top notch staff around him and LSU will continue to provide him the resources to have that staff.

I think this is a very valid question. This year was the Joe Show not unlike the Cam Scam in 2010. Time will tell but if O was such a good 'CEO' what took him so long to get here?

Do people really over-rate coach O? He's a great recruiter, he's a great motivator, and give him credit for letting his coaches coach.

It will be interesting to see how well they do after Joe Brady leaves.

Aranda only leaves for a HC job. So he's there for a long while. When Brady gets a NFL OC job, or maybe a HC shot on the college level, we'll see some drop off. That will be the down year or two before O rights the ship by firing the OC.

Any chance Ensminger steps down and they give Brady a deal similar to Aranda's? Brady is never going to be hotter than he is right now. He needs to cash in whether that's a 7 figure multi-year deal with LSU or a jump to the NFL.

I talked to a former Les Miles LSU staff member a few days ago. He said he thought Brady would be back in the NFL sooner rather than later. Said Brady didn't realize how much of a 24-7 job it was when he took it.

Coach O just won a natty with arguably the best team of all time. Judging by the metrics we judge coaches he’s reached the pinnacle. You have to give the man his due respect for what he accomplished.

If he wins 9 to 10 every year and every 4 to 5 years he makes the playoffs, he’ll be fine.

Fans might lose it but they admin isn’t as dumb as fans.

He was Interim CEO at USC and won respectably, Interim CEO at LSU, won! and I guess the other 30 plus players had little contribution.

The difference is Oregeron’s LSU teams will never fall off a cliff like Chizik’s Auburn team and go 3-9. They will go 9-4 worst case scenario.

That is probably true. There is some history behind O to back that up. Cheezewhiz on the other hand coached two losing seasons at ISU before being handed the golden ticket by the AU bag men. Funny that said 'fund raisers' couldn't or wouldn't maintain the pipeline for ol geney boy. Deal with the devil (NCAA) perhaps to preserve the 2010 season or maybe cheese was just that bad of a coach and cam was that good of a player.

He will be up and down based on how good his staff is, but there is no reason to expect his down to be very down. O is a different type of head coach for college, but I don't see any obvious reason to think their approach isn't sustainable. They are going to have a consistent culture and a consistent approach to recruiting. They will be up and down based on how good their staff and in particular their coordinators are, but they will be able to have a top 10 paid OC and DC at all times, so he should have good options whenever there is turnover. And with their recruiting, they'll still be good enough with average coordinators that they can still win 9 games, so making a bad hire will just mean riding out a couple of seasons with probably 10 wins after the bowl game, which won't exactly derail the recruiting.

No he won’t unless he never makes the big show.
Mark richt kept choking.

If Ed O makes the playoffs, 1 every 5 years and averages 9.5 or better he is safe until he wants to retire.
