He shows he wants to box out and grab a rebound like it's a bag of gold. Show that he is gonna move his man off tge block. He is not gonna score so do everything else...hard.

If you watch, he gets pushed around like a rag doll. He’s rarely in position, and has ZERO touch around the rim, often flinging the ball at the basket. What. A. Bust.

Agree--he does not box out or move his man off the block.

He doesn’t have a low center of gravity. So he has to do it a different way, and he hasn’t figured it out. But he’s starting and playing as much as possible. It is what it is

Other bigs don’t have a low center of gravity either. What they have is basketball IQ. Cliff almost always out of position. He’s all we have though.

Boxing out automatically lowers your center of gravity though. He's standing straight up and down which makes him easier to be pushed

He’s stiff and not fluid. I can’t seeing another play anywhere who play with such stiffness and less touch. I know he started basketball late, but he’s not the only player to do that. Even his dunks look awkward.

6-20 shooting with 9 turnovers in three Big Ten games. That's brutal.

He was never that good. He was a product of dunks via the lob from better guards. Sure he is still a presence, and should start. But he is the same player he’s been since day 1. An athlete and physical looking player that really isn’t that physical.

We keep recruiting guys who are really 4s like Reiber and Wolf and then we make them play the 5. If we actually ran 5-out with Wolf in there it might work.
What can possibly go wrong with recruiting undersized/undertalented 4’s and playing them at the 5 in the B1G. Man, recruiting has been awful

He should come back. The new kids will increase his stock back up. Better team and the lobs from Dylan will be crazy. He comes back and Rutgers is a top 10 team next year and favorite to win B1G.

He may be athletic( not sure it matters with Cliff) but when your body’s base is built like a stick you will need to make sure you put your body on another body. Almost to a man when the opposing team puts up a shot the Rutgers players are nowhere around . Anticipation is a missing component with this team . Pikiell’s teams past at least learned to rebound… maybe in the next 5-6 games they can be better on the boards.

I think critiquing his lack of offensive production is super valid, but he is borderline top 100 in defensive rebounding % per KenPom. I also thinks he takes himself out of some rebounds trying to block shots

He's just not a very good player. If the season totally falls apart, Ogbole and Woolfolk should get more minutes than Cliff preparing for next year, but that would be an indictment on Pike. I doubt he does it.

There's literally no room.
If Clif returns than Woolf or Obgole (likely both) need to leave.

One of them likely has to leave even if Clif leaves.

I agree with you. Cliff may as well come back, the NBA certainly is not an option for him next year.

Interesting.
Haven’t seen anyone guess Chol would be shown the door.
He’s barely playing and they have a scholarship crunch being that they are currently 2 over for next year.

You start with the guys that don’t have a role before moving out guys like Woolf that are playing.

Cliff a “bust” . I, mean, come on man.

The criticisms (poor boxing out, bad hands, lack of offensive moves, etc) are legit but despite them he has still been one of the most important players for us for several years.

Disappointing re: the lack of development? Sure

But a “bust”?!! Puhleeaze

Agree. Good player on the other end. And much, much better than the clumsy oaf 5 who preceded him, including on offense.
