Novak is gonna get them playing hard. All he needs to do is figure out how to fix the center position. We have talented players that need to be coached up

I will consider it a great accomplishment if they make the NCAA Tournament. With Carter's availability very much in question we could end up having some major issues in the post. Our roster is very perimeter heavy, and we do have some talent on the wings, but I just don't see this team being all that great. I genuinely hate it for them that they've lost their coach right before the season and one of their best players is, at best, suspended indefinitely, that's a tough spot to be in for a team. And they barely even know Novak, he just joined the program in August or September. And his coaching experience in general is predominantly on the men's side.

The roster is almost unrecognizable from two years ago, and if you recall, Schaefer's last team was super young and considered to be building toward another Final Four run or two. Just hasn't gone that way at all unfortunately.

That's true of most every program at every school. If you truly want to build and keep a program, fan support is the ticket. And no doubt a coach usually builds that the first time, but for sustainment, you have to pack the venue out. If you're fan support is tied to a coach, then you don't have a program, you have.....a coach. And we all know how fickle they are. That appears to have been the case when women's bball at State.

I hope we're not seeing the same with football. Of course, you have to also make good follow-up hires to the coach that 'built' it. Fan support helps make that happen.
