I can see the justification of Stanford to get Notre dame. I like Utah to get N from being the next farthest west to be in their pod.

I don't see Miami and GT. Would rather have Clemson and NC

I am not a big fan of Georgia Tech in the conference but I can see the reasoning.

They do bring the Atlanta market which is ranked 6th, 33rd in academic rankings, and a presence in Georgia/SEC country.

Should be grabbing Kansas. Basketball is going to huge $$$ when the NCAA loses the tournament money.

Stanford & Cal are a packaged deal and are perfect philosophical fits in our beloved conference

UVA seems like a natural fit back east

Thoughts on some of these teams and divisions? Not a fan of the Co Canes but everyone else looks good.

NO, NO, NO, NO, NO and NO. At that point, there really isn't a conference. You might has well just call everyone in P4 one conference.

News, GT does NOT bring the Atlanta market. The Atlanta market for college football is 95% UGA. The only people who care about GT sports are the people who went there.

70% of the people in Sanford Stadium every Saturday live in Atlanta, just like 70% of the fans at a Nebraska game are from the Omaha metro area.

That 70% of the fans at Georgia games from Atlanta is double the total fans that go to a GT game.

OTOH, there are a lot of Big 10 transplants in the Deep South, and Atanta is the hub. It would be like adding Rutgers (a lot of B10 fans around NYC) but adding an actual P5 program. PS - I'd take UNC and UVA over Miami and FSU.

“News”…that hasn’t stopped the Big Ten from getting teams like Rutgers because of the “New York City” market.

As I mentioned I am not in favor of Georgia Tech in the conference but I can understand the speculation.

It's about the cable subscriptions at a higher tier rate...that is where the money is...the entire reason Rutgets and MD are in the B1G

Tell me the in-state Jersey (or for that matter New York City) team that Rutgers competes with, or the in-state team that Maryland (or for that matter DC or Delaware) competes with. Not a good comparison. There are 5 FBS Football schools in Georgia, including one of the best. There are 2 in Maryland (Maryland and Navy) and 1 in Jersey (Rutgers).

Where did I say the Big Ten’s logic makes any sense? Winking

Is the goal just to cover the entire United States and every major TV market at this point? Why even call it a conference, let alone the Big Ten? Is this inevitably just becoming something where almost every former "Power 5" team is sorted into either the Big Ten or SEC and they just break off and become a 60 team minor league sport? I'm struggling to understand (or care about) the grand vision of any of this conference expansion stuff anymore, it's all gibberish.

Money is the driving factor for the Big Ten

Isn't that be the driving factor for EVERY conference? Why do you think the Pac 12 dissolved and the Big 10 got 4 of their best teams? Would you rather be in a dead or dying conference while making half the money?
I’ll point out the SEC. If they wanted to maximize their money, they would be playing 9 conference games and also doing the Friday night prime time games just like the Big Ten.

Up to this point, winning has been more important to the SEC than money. I expect that to change in the future.

Also where did I say I don’t want to be in the Big Ten?

Understood. The other post was pointed towards a few on here that think going back to the watered down Big 12 with no Oklahoma and Texass is a good idea. All while going from 60 million a year to 30. It's Big 10 and SEC. No other conference can compete. That's why you will see more movement of ACC teams to the 2 big boy conferences left.

Agreed, I’m glad we are in 1 of the big 2.

I’m simply saying up to this point, the Big Ten cares more about money than the SEC does.

Their football program is also making steady improvements/progress and they are building a new stadium. I would think they would be at least in the conversation.
That’s gonna last for about three more years until their coach retires and then it’s back to the basement for them

I just don't see Stanford and Utah to the B1G. No to Georgia Tech and Miami. I can see Florida State and Notre Dame, but the Irish just don't want to be apart of that. I would take A&M and Florida State if ND didn't want to go. Plus, there's not going to be some 60 team super division. More likely, 48-50 teams. Then the pressure to break off and form a new upper tier division will probably happen.

Swap Kansas for either Stanford or Utah (your pick, I really don’t care either way) and then drop GT for either UNC or Clemson. (once again, your pick)

Otherwise, **** would be straight baller. Would love playing Wisconsin, Iowa and ND every year. Would love that ND would act like they’re above their division opponents and then subsequently get their **** pushed in by those same division opponents. Would also love to see a 4 team playoff for the conference championship. (Probably never happen) winner of the Atlantic(East) play the winner of the North. Winner of the Midwest division plays the winner of the West. Or however you want to match it up, you get the gist.

This is nothing more than one person‘s wish list, correct? There’s nothing to this. Just a guess.

Yup. Just spitballing. FSU is the only team that I've heard may be next.
Lot of smoke around Utah though. Zero loyalty to big12 so they would bolt in a heartbeat. We really need a couple more west teams to avoid potential pigeon hole to the left coast. Seems like we're making in roads to athletes there

Last week Flugaur and McMurphy reported that Sankey, like Yormark, thinks BB is currently undervalued and will make a major correction. Sankey is reported to be looking to build SEC BB - the discussion is just beginning and is starting with UNC and Kansas. Kentucky, Kansas, and UNC is a nice start with Alabama, Tennessee pushing their BB programs hard. Now Arkansas's Big Money Donors are loading up huge dollars to buy Calipari a Natty. SEC BB is coming on strong.

Cable subscriptions? If we were talking five or ten years ago, sure. But even ESPN is throwing in the towel and streaming is their immediate future. Cable is on life support with an incurable disease.

Remember, even like 10 years ago, putting up a sweet flat screen, mounted, outside on the deck would be such a pain.

Now...a 50 dollar mount (stop talking about my wife like that) a 300 dollar TV, probably 55 inches, and some streaming services and you are set.

Same with tailgating spots.
