If Pike ran off Paul

At the end of last year Paul looked tired and worn out. I know he was banged up and some strongly believe he was just injured. Perhaps that’s true but almost immediately after the NIT loss he sure sounded like a guy who was leaving. And then he wanted time to figure it out, which Pike gave him, and ultimately he decided to leave. If reports are true, he did circle back thereafter looking to come back and perhaps at that point Pike said maybe it’s just best for both to move on. If he did, I’m good with Pike on that one.

One last thing - I’m sure Paul didn’t like that Pike went out and got Noah. But, at some point, a 21-22 year old competitor has to be ok with competition. As it turns out, if that’s the reason Paul left it was dumb because he’d be playing 30+ minutes for us.

Paul was hormonal at the end of last year and ragequit, this is pretty well established. Wasn’t Pike’s doing, Paul needed someone to sit him down and tell him to take a deep breath.

Your posts register a high chuckle rate.
Respect.
Also I’d be surprised if you didn’t graduate between 04-08 based on humor/delivery.

What’s crazy is if anyone from this board made these crazy posts on the PSU board we would get a lifetime ban.

If Pike tore Mag's ACL himself, he's a terrible coach and should be in jail to be honest.
totally agree. I hope there's an investigation.

And if he ran off Cam, then Pike's the anti-Christ. Call the Catholic Church up.

Paul’s role in Washington is a great example of how there are some players with unique or less than common combinations of size/skill set/style that some coaches have simply no clue how to utilize.

Paul ran away to sprint out to the corner and run the baseline every possession. It’s absurd.

I didn’t want him back personally. Our guards have been so bad though maybe pike would’ve been more comfortable using him than some of the smaller guards we have with few clear strengths.

Its wild to think that Peter Kiss couldn’t play on prior teams and he’d probably be our best guard.

It is so simple. He wanted to be THE PG . I actually thought pike as making the right move. How hard did he try to keep him? who knows. paul was a head case last year too.
Last 3 games he's been awesome for the Huskies. No doubt we'd be in a better place with him but oh well.

You guys are looking way too much into this.

Anyone that was paying attention knows that he was a head case towards the end of last season.

He was likely injured, and was not nearly as productive as he was previously.

In addition, his antics on the court and frequent outbursts were a bad look to himself and the university, and in his farewell press conference, he thank Pike profusely, but it was obvious that he was looking for a change.

I wish him nothing but the best as he is a loyal son, and always will be, but a change of scenery was desperately needed by both parties.

Paul will likely be back at our games over the coming years and beyond. He bleeds scarlet and loved his time here. Also realize he spent two years in a Covid society without really going to class in person….it was challenging from other perspectives beyond basketball.
I know this because I talked to him about it
