Offer Muschamp as much money as I could raise 2.5 - 3 million dollars with a no buyout clause to go back to Texas when Mack Brown retires.

Maybe so, but I have to believe that Texas is thinking long term as in about 6 to 8 yrs from now.

But yes, he is ready I would say. The only reason they signed him up and tied him down is take everyone else away who was starting to inquire about him.
and as far as him being the next HC at texas, i dont see it. unless he is truly happy there for the long term, he will need to jump at a chance in a couple years.
Mack has already said he is in no hurry to go anywhere and plans to be around for a while, even longer than his current 8 year contract.
Only way mack leaves before then is if things go sour, and in that cause they wont be following his recommendations for Muschamp to follow him...

Muschamp knows that if he were to ever leave Texas he wouldn't be the man to replace Brown when he retires. Texas threw him that bone to keep him as defensive coordinator in 2009, not because they wanted to lock him down as Brown's replacement 5+ years from now.
