Respect Q for your post.

I always Trusted and Believed Coach K’s pick. Coach Scheyer knew what it took to win as a Duke Player and as an Assistant Coach/Lead Recruiter. Some will say Jon was handed the position, but that’s simply not true.

Brad Stevens was my top pick and Coach Scheyer was my 2nd pick.

Some were very critical on Coach Scheyer, Proctor, and Foster, but I Always Believed in Them. Proctor and Foster along with many on this Duke Team will some day play in the NBA and I will root for them then as well, but for now we Are Fortunate to be watching them Play for Duke.

We Are Blessed to have Coach Scheyer Leading The Blue Devils. He is only going to continue to Evolve as A Leader

Yeah and I don’t know why I didn’t trust K, who has forgotten more basketball than I know.

Oh my, Capel is not a good coach.

He’ll be gone from Pitt soon, maybe after next season.
Before this season, most people were singing a different tune. With Duke resources, the sky’s the limit. Plus, when he came back from Oklahoma, he help spearhead the OAD’s at Duke. He’s a great recruiter and had HC experience, another reason why I wanted him. Again, I was wrong.

I was one of the few, it seems, who wanted Jon, and I was on here and out in the world arguing with people about how great he was going to be all the time. One of the few times in my life I have been right, haha
I was right there with you . He had a chance to coach both DePaul and UNLV but they chose different and have since fired each coach they hired over Jon. I was one who never believed Capel was the head coach in waiting .i always believed it was going to be Scheyer.

Wasn't Jon's name mentioned as Pitt's new coach back in 18? Within the next few days, it was being announced that Capel was their new head coach. It was a little bizarre, if I'm remembering right.

Possible that K had a talk with Jon, Jeff, and Pitt, and that's the reason Jeff wound up there?

I just wanted to watch Jon for his first 4 years before I rushed to a decision. He was learning on the job just like any other newbie in any profession. I wanted to see him get more vocal with the refs sometimes during his first two seasons. I think he’s comfortable in his role now and is doing a helluva good job.

I thought there was an article that said ,” which Duke assistant is to be Pitts next coach ?” But I also thought Jon never interviewed for that job due to his friendship with Capel.

As Capel and others have discovered it is a lot easier to recruit with the Duke name behind you.
