Think we can all agree If we don't make the tournament this year it's considered a failure?

I mean landing 5 stars doesn't matter. The programs goal is to go to the NCAA tournament and nothing else, correct? I'd rather land less highly paid guys that gel and actually get us to March basketball that actually matters rather than landing two of the best guys and not being able to build a team around them (we paid Martini? Seriously?)

Some might say "well perception wise we are good cause we landed these top guys!". If we get two of the top three recruits in the nation and don't make the tournament, it's going to be a national embarrassment.

I pray we make it. I would stay off these boards and stick to football if I truly didn't care about the basketball program. But hey, If we don't make it this year, it'll be 3 years straight without a tournament appearance, immediately following one of our most impressive teams in the history of our program being a one and done appearance in the play in tournament.

If they don’t make it, Pike should be let go the following Monday.

But that won’t happen, he would be back for next season and likely put together a scrappy defensive group that fits his identity.

I think this team sneaks in on the bubble and likely gets a good draw that leads to a tournament run.

Games in the NCAA tournament are way different from B1G games.

We ain't making the tournament. Not happening.

We struggle on defense and Pike refuses to coach them on offense. So many ill-advised shots it isn't funny.

I just laughed when LS didn't get out of the way when Ace had the ball on the baseline. It allowed his man to stay in the area to help on Ace. Then LS does an absolutely wild drive, looking for a call. Dylan, rightfully so, didn't looked thrilled at that.

at this point having watched 9 games i think we would all be THRILLED to play in Dayton again and MAYBE upset someone to make the round of 32

that would be a dream

If Rutgers doesn't make the tournament this year Steve Pikiell should be fired. Period.

We have 2 freshman studs - who sometimes play like freshman and pretty close to zero supporting cast. We will have days where it looks like we can beat anyone and days where it will look like we can't beat anyone for the rest of the season. We are in the latter right now.

I disagree with automatically assuming 2 lottery picks gets you in the tournament. However, blowing smoke up our asses regarding the talent that was brought in to compliment them is pathetic. That, and the inability to coach them is disappointing. I’m not giving up however as growing pains were expected but there is a lot of work to do.

At some point can we please run high pick and roll with Ace and Dylan with shooters in the corners. Ace loves to shoot midrange and Dylan can get downhill. Granted, it’s not an elite motion offense but it’s better than hoping Dylan can make something happen or running ISO for Ace.

Pike was gifted 2 5 stars and didn't surround them with a good cast. I realize NIL matters, but he didn't do a good job with this team. Harper and Bailey can't do it alone as witnessed today. Hopefully they aren't regretting their decision to come here. I surely wouldn't blame them.

It's not really about this assumption. It's about the fact that this is now year 3 in a row of not making the tournament. Everyone gave Pike a pass for last season based on Dylan and Ace coming in and this year is not looking good. It's the entire picture that is concerning - not just this season.

Obviously everyone is pissed off right now - but this team is having growing pains and doesn't look very good. How long those growing pains last is the real question. Truth be told they really have not looked great all season - maybe they're just not.

This was always going to be a bubble team. You almost never get off to great starts led by freshman. There is no veteran leadership. Now, we need to pick it up to get to the bubble.

Definitely agree with you here. Also, he’s recruiting like it’s pre-NIL when his portal track record is pretty poor.

And yet we could’ve beaten Bama and Texas A&M if we executed just a bit better in the last 60-90 seconds. Today was a major step back.

Red flags were evident in first 4 games !

Vegas got me optimistic!

Shitshow today.

Road woes continue and Columbus remains a horror show for us!

we all will agree but i see the excuses popping up already....RUTGERS DIDNT HAVE THE MONEY BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT PONYING UP YOUR DISPOSABLE INCOME TO PAY PLAYERS TO ATTEND RUTGERS

I’ll be shocked if we ended conference play above .500. Better coaches and roster construction just about everywhere else
Ive watched the early big 10 games and been pretty impressed by the level of play across the board. Ohio State is not a top half team in this league and neither is Rutgers

As predicted there will be high highs and low lows with this team. Highs are coming. As are more lows
