When we were underdogs every game it was much easier to play with passion and energy. As favorites the effort slips a bit and it comes down to natural basketball talent - and that is where the truth rears its ugly head.
We don't have much real talent. We win by outworking the other team. When that stops so do the wins.
This just shows how hard it is to really take that next step. The elites recruit players good enough to still win when your effort slips. We do not. Until we do, we're going to continue to see disappointing seasons like this. I think we'll get there with Pike. The last 3 signees are all really good players. Now we need a roster full of them so we have guys that can make winning plays when everything is falling apart.
